It's a mixed blessing. The problem is that if you really document everything really deeply, the first thing that happens is that someone comes there, sees all this documentation gorp and immediately decides it's way too complex.

I've got to get some kind of up front cheat sheet summary type of thing that manages both to tell them what it's really capable of, but does it without either selling the system short or being just another piece of information overload.

And people say that I really don't have anything remotely like 'marketing' on the site, and that I need to improve that. And I agree, I'm not marketer, and I always feel vaguely embarrassed when I move beyond just the technical facts. You see all these 'so and so partners with us in a grand whatever', when really they probably just exchanged business cards at a trade show. I really don't want to get into all that, but I do need to get more marketing savvy on the web site.

Now, here's a question wrt the Key Digital site girls. Is the sex better when you are tied up with regular zip cord vs. something like Monster cable or high end cables?

Let me vote at least once for Yamaha. I would name the web site, but there are several. There are at least two different product databases with different approaches and different products left out. You might go down the list and say "it isn't there," but then you haven't checked the OTHER list that is out there somewhere, have you?

I just knew Impaqt would defend... web site :-).

The site breaks every rule of good navigation.
It is what I would use to teach a class on how
NOT to design a web site.

I have learned a bit about web sites from a web site with the byline "learn good web design by looking at bad web design." It is www.websitesthatsuck.com, which is really their URL!

It is worth checking out to hone your web page criticizing skills. You can even nominate a web site or page to be their "Sucker of the Day." It turns out there are so many bad sites that they really have to keep turning over the "suckers" in order to show everybody's nominations.

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Yes, I've added that site to my favorites based on your past posts Ernie. It's a good site.

I'm also quite confident that the guy that runs it would tell Impaqt he's full of phooey (on this issue) :-).

As a Yamaha dealer I have to agree. It sucks for dealers and consumers alike. Sonance however has their act together. The website is decent for the consumer but much better than most for dealers. If you want to throw service to dealers into the mix, Sonance is by far the best. IMHO.

Sony= most useless site ever

If it weren't for the Trinitron picture tube, Sony might be the worst company ever.

1) My parts people can't get an eta or check stock
2) When I need new TVs, they arrive when they arrive, can't get an eta
3) Parts are NLA as soon as 5 years from date of manufacture
4) And the web site sucks

Sony has been very profitable due to their position in the CRT television market, but if they don't get there customer service act together in the new age of alternative displays, they will become irrelevent.

www.remotecentral.com is a pretty decent site, but I'm not sure I like the crap they manufacture.
