I've been thinking about posting this question here for a while, I'm a single man company that has got into a situation where there is more work than hours in a day (i'm sure a lot of you know that feeling).
So I'd be interested in hearing from anyone in the custom installation field that may feel like a change of scenery.
I primarily deal with Elan, Centralite, Infocus, McIntosh, Vutec, Mimio, Soundadvance, Klipsch, Mission and UStec all to varying degrees. The work is varied and encompasses security, wireless Lan installations, Conference rooms, Services distribution etc basically given the background that I come from most jobs are considered (probably the cause of my present situation)
Anyway if this sparks any interest in anyone please feel free to submit CV with past experience and references to the address in my profile.

We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours. |

I figured someone had to ask that, and thinking about it, it shows an inability to figure something out yourself.
Location is the Cayman Islands.

Is that one of the islands in the Great Lakes, like Lake Michigan?

BJ, isn't it nice the way Mother Nature weeds out the weak-minded ones?

ts, your geography is a bit off try a lot farther south, just below Cuba.
Larry, it is, maybe I expect too much but a little investigation would have revealed that answer and more.
Q not being mean, but if someone was to be interested it would be a sizeable investment for my company, so I guess I would like to see some initiative from the start.

bjarne, youll never really find anyone you're happy with. You are too quick to critique someones deepest principles and values to have a good business relationship with them (I guess yours are just that good.) Because he said "Oh yeah, wheres the job?" I love my boss because he is driven, much like you, but he is patient. Oh yeah, we are very busy too!

Not exactly sure where that came from, but anyway. I didn't realise I was critiqueing anything just stating what I thought was obvious, and anyway where's the harm in constructive criticism.
In my defence my principles are as good as the next guys (depending on the next guy of course), I think I'm a down to earth type of person, head on the right way etc, and as for patience all I can say is I got 2 kids under 3 nuff said.

The profile button is there for some reason. Some of us have info and others do not! QQQ the mystery man. If you follow his posts here and AVS Forum one could figure out where he lives.

Just to sat the unobvious............(Is that a word?)
Just because it says "Cayman Islands" in your profile doesnt necessarily mean
A: That the person actually IS from the Cayman islands....
or
B: That this "6 month to 1 Year" gig is a local job.
I'm just trying to figure out why would would want a temporary hire if the business is growing. Why not just go to the next level.
I find it hard to believe that with some of those lines your a 1 man show. Market must be a bit different down there.....

Granted the net is a good place to cover your identity or location if you so wish to remain anonymous, in this case not the case. I'm an import to Cayman myself I've been here five years and been running AIS for the past two years.
the gig would be considered as a local job and even if the 6 month to a year seemed temporary it is dictated by the need for work permits here. Trust me I would like to jump to the next level but given the limitations on suitable candidates locally I thought probably the next best step would be to look abroad on a temporary basis initially, if things work out then I wouldn't have a problem extending that time frame.
I would imagine that the market is a lot different here and I doubt I would meet the manufacturers criteria is sales volume had I been located in the US as there would be other vendors in the same geographical area that would probably shift alot more gear than I am presently, however they are understanding to the fact that I am just starting out in this business and willing to support the company. ( Oh some of it comes through third party.... Infocus direct I don't think that will ever happen for their volume requirements)
Regards

I guess I was a bit mean, because the first thing I did, before I even finished reading the post, was click on 'view author's profile' to check the location. So often, especially in the Marketplace forum, I see people ask questions such as "is it still for sale?" or "where are you?" when the answer is in the profile. I don't intend to criticize, but I would certainly want someone I hire to possess rudimentary skills and intelligence, not to mention a willingness to explore. I would jump at the chance to live/work in the Caymans! I'm a SCUBA diver, and some of the best diving spots in the world are in the islands of the Caribbean. Larry www.fineelectricco.com

Just to play devils advocate, might one argue that most job ads should state clearly where the job location is so that the potential applicant shouldn't have to seach for the location as if it's an Easter egg hunt?
If I were Ahl I would offer the comeback that I would never want to work for someone without the good common sense to list the job location in the ad :-). Same reasoning, right?
