I am installing a Infocus 7200 projector and the image does not fit the screen square. The screen is perfectly level, the lens of the projo is perfectly centered to the screen, it is a 16:9 ratio, and the throw distance is correct. Has anyone ran into this problem?

Using a laser level, find the center point of the screen, and while making sure that the level is horizontally level, pivot the laser up or down to the projector lens... the only sure way.

You could be experiencing skew from a non-tru framing job or the screen housing is not installed true, etc...

You may want to check for correct vertical offset.

Or you could have the screen not perfectly vertical, from the side perspective (or you do, but shouldn't). Can you tell us the nature of the non-squareness?

You need to determine whether the problem is the projector or the screen. If you can't measure any misalignment, you might have to resort to process of elimination.

Did you try addjusting the 'Keystone' in the In Focus' menu? This tilts the image. If your problem is that either the top or the bottom of the image is too small, this will correct it.

Check with the specification of the manufacturer, It will tell you where the screen needs to be located, with respect to distance back (deep) from the screen as well as weather or not it should line up with the center of the screen or for example with Yamaha Projectors you have to line up with in the top or bottom 6" (not exact figure but to that respect).

The 7200 has slight barrel distortion and will not fit a screen perfectly. If you are mounting the 7200 on the ceiling it usually shows slight rounding in the lower right corner. Is this what you are experiencing?

Yes, this is exactly what I'm experiencing. Is there any kind of calibration that can be done to fix the problem?

Unfortunately, No. You can try the PJ at different zooms and see where it is minimized. Then you need to zoom the picture so that some of it will end up on the masking or use the keystone function. Or, just live with it. This has to do with the quality and size of the lens. Some PJ's you notice this by putting up a grid pattern and it looks like some of the colors are not aligned. Similar to an RPTV but of course with single chip DLP there is no convergence. It has to do with quality of the lens as different color wavelengths are affected by the optics differently.

Hope this helps
