Boy the frozen peas are coming out tonite... think I went a little overboard lugging my ass into a crawlspace yesterday. The biggest problem with this business is that during busy times your business runs you. I have such a hard time taking time off and I hate sitting idle so I may have done a little damage... ouch.

Wonder if newbies to this thread could have expected the turn it took!

Yours truly,

Numbnutz

Happy to report that the left one... which grew to about the size of a tangerine... is now down to about a grade AA Jumbo egg and I'm not having to walk with my feet a meter apart!

To those of you who are BUSY and can't take time off for such operations... I might advise to use other methods until you feel you can honestly take a doctor's advice and sit the f--k down for a while.

Ciao,

Painful Nutz

Why does that remind me of the 'oh-no' bird?

Thought I'd throw in my 2cents worth. As a non-professional/complete amateur to this game, I wanted to install a multiroom audio system into my new home last year. So, BEFORE considering emailing the pros on this site and others, I searched the internet to see exactly what I needed and in doing so did my own research.

I looked at a number of the products provided by custom companies like Niles, Russound, Elan and Xantech. I also got the free booklets from Crutchfield and a number of other sites and learned what I needed. I didn't think it was fair to ask for detailed information from pro installers (who, quite rightly, deserve to be paid) when I wanted to do the install myself (I just wanted the experience in doing it).

This is the key word "myself". As I say, I wanted the experience in doing this. I'm sure this is why most of the amateurs post on the Custom Forum, because they want to do it themselves. In which case there is plenty of information out there to learn. But you have to put in the time and effort to find things out for yourselves. Don't just issue a "you're professionals, tell me what to do" post. Do your own homework first. Then if you're still confused about whether you can send IR down Coax cable, you should ask. People are more than willing to answer. And I'm not getting at anybody here, either. I just saying if you're REALLY interested, you owe it to youself do your homework first. If you don't want to do it yourself, I'm sure you can find a custom installer here to do it for you.

I often wonder if some people who post here realise just how much work you guys, as custom installers actually put into your jobs. Anyway, not sure if there's too much of a point here, just my 2 cents.

BTW, when I'd made my decision I bought from a local custom installer, not some faceless "cheapest company on the Internet". And I always will.
