It never occurred to me that Brent might be watching this here from the sidelines! I thought his small number of posts meant he rarely comes here. But perhaps not.

So here's something I advised Peggy in an email. This is not a quote, just the general idea.

Call the police. $16,000 is large enough, and the circumstances right, for this to be considered fraud. Call the District Attorney. Since some of the product crosses state lines, call the FBI. Since money was transferred by wire and he did not deliver, maybe it's mail fraud...and who deals with that? The Secret Service? I don't know. And yes, I'm really serious about that.

A new one just occurred to me: call the State Department. I think they want trade with China to proceed. And aren't some people on Obama's staff sort of interested in green technologies? Maybe someone from the White House would be interested in giving this guy a nudge.

The joke would be to call Al Gore. On the other hand, that's nutty enough that it might help!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

The FBI has no interest below $100K.

A good point. The Bureau tells the public the $100K figure, but no doubt they have their hot button issues.

Edit....

In reading the story I see this...

"A Federal spokesman put their value at several hundred thousand dollars."

See!! I told ya!!

A Felony... anyway you look at it. I've been broke numerous times over the years, but would never even consider ripping off a customer.

I second that Stanley. Brent is one of the most active posters on C4 forums. I saw hime there last night, but he won't post. I say pony up and atleast let her know you have intensions of getting it back to them. There are enough scumbags in our industry as it is. From my sources at C4 today the project was six figures. Grow some balls and loose the vayjay.

I left a voice message with Brent and have contacted Control4. Sent you an email, Peggy. Maybe I'm too late and it's all been resolved? (I hope) - Julie

Not to worry, Brent, I don't rush to judgment. I too have fallen off the grid many times even when folks have needed me most. I suspect you're just in a little over your head and -- like many integrators -- just don't have the energy to deal. Give me a buzz (651-275-9564) or shoot me an email.

Sorry, White Van...putting more of my goofy stuff on facebook.

See what you're missing ... I got into a fight with a book shelf. That was about 10 days ago...I have seriously scrawny hands. It's considerably grosser now.
