where do you get this stuff?!!

Google Images.. i bet this wasnt what they had in mind when they developed their search engine :)

When Snap said NY elitist i had an image of a guy in a top hat & tux for Alan and whenever i hear anything military i think of a guy standing at attention.

I took the tophat guy and copy pasted him then flipped it then stretched it to make space for the marine. If you look at the cobblestone you will see the ones on the left are much wider. Then i just cut out the marine and resized him.

We won two awards last year, there was no fee. I don't
remember there being more than 400 or so entries for the
various categories and I'm guessing that with a fee this
year those entries may be fewer. Seems like it might almost
be a good bet to win with that few competitors. Still
it seems poor timing to introduce a fee when most people
can least afford it.

So what's the deal Julie?

Your website is awesome, the pics of the wiring are incredible. I love the wallmount/dockable touchscreen being mounted in the rack. Client can fire the system up right there or take it with him to the other side of the room if he wants. Consider that idea stolen :).

Anyone can make a plasma or touchscreen look nice in an expensive home but behind the rack is a different story. Thats what seperates the men from the boys IMO. Nice work!

I think you should wave my fee so that I can make some entries.....

You can call it helping a vet out!

JUST KIDDING! I pay my own way.

PS: I sent you a PM one time asking if you still wanted a story on a DIY client. You never got back to me.

Do you have that covered or no?

alright, alright, quit your whining!!

When these things are free, dealers, PR companies, etc.
send in gobs of stuff willy nilly.

Only way to weed out the hacks and keep in the serious
people is to charge a modest fee.

$299 (I think $199 for a short time) gets you as many
entries as you want. I don't think that's so much to ask.

This is our most expensive and time-consuming issue of
the year. You wouldn't BELIEVE how much we spend on photography
and we never make it up. We're hurting like everyone else
and need to recoup those costs.

We don't have the resources to plow through 400 entries.
Hopefully the fee will get us a smaller number of very
serious entries.

And in that case, the people who paid have a much higher
chance of winning -- lots and lots of awards are given
out.

OK?

We gotta spread the wealth, otherwise, if it were free, wouldn't that be socialism?

Note the time....... *shakes head in disgust*

1. That happens to be a picture of my partner in crime Alan. Granted that was us 15 years ago but us none the less. And I assure you he will not appreciate you calling him Bush.

2. Note this was an ON TOPIC thread about something that EH is going for the FIRST time, that directly impacts the photographer that I have scheduled to go to 3 homes so that I can enter this competition.

3. Due to said entry fee I am rethinking the whole 300 a session for the photographer, plus 400 entry fee for EH. That is almost 2 months rent on my showroom, just to take a chance on getting into the mag.

Where did you get $400 for EH entry fee? It's $200 for as many entries as you want. $300 after Jan. 31

You don't HAVE to shoot professional pics. It's nice to have, but not required.

Also, please note:

EH guarantees that every entry gets up on electronichouse.com - You can use that link to promote their business. This is a change from past years - and it is the MAIN reasons we are charging the fee.
