Everything works great but the client mentions that he is dropping about 20 percent of his calls. Completely random drops. It has happened on both lines, both type of phones, random length of calls, single call and conference calls.

When it dropped a conference call, the other 2 parties were able to continue the conference call that he initiated.

He actually dropped a call when I was on the phone with him. I heard a beep, then he was gone.

No error logs.

Panasonic has an idea what the problem is but I wont post here as to not influence possibly helpful replies.

Just remember with Panasonic, you will spend many un-reimbursed hours trouble-shooting your system. I would make sure you document all calls to Tech support and press them to the wall for answers.

The only reason I say this is the 624 debacle cost our company untold hours of trouble-shooting and major customer dissatisfaction. The software on that 624 was prone to software glitches that still crop up to this day. I can still remember them telling me that they are "unaware of any problems that you are describing" and said to get some line current filters from sandman.com to solve the problem---it didn't.

Since the software on the 848 is so uncomplicated and easy to get around in ;-), the problem might just be a box checked to limit call duration C0 to C0. BTW, have they gotten around to making idle line pickup go from low to high yet?

gwilly, I have been installing Panasonic systems for years with no problems..
Yes Panasonic support is a joke but if you buy your phones from the right company you can get awesome support.. it also helps to go to training, that way the software makes sense.

sound.sd, if he made the conference call between both of the other parties and he was kicked off and the other 2 parties were still able to talk that means that the call, CO-CO was still there but his extension cut out. I see he is using the cordless phones, he isn't simply walking out of range of the receiver or have low batteries does he? Or is this happening on all of the phones? I would also look at call duration settings, I have had people have me set it sometimes to try to limit the amount of time that their kids are on the phone and they usually have me get rid of it a few days later.

Hi,

I had something like this happen. Turned out to be bad wall jack (actually the entire batch of jacks were faulty). Moving the cable from the phone to the jack just a little bit could disconnect the phone from the system.

Do you have a battery backup on the system? do you have a surge protector on the phone lines? Is there an alarm system in the house that might be trying to get an outside line? Have you tried to bypass the phone system and hook up a phone for him to use to see if there isn't some sort of problem on the phone company's side of things? Is the phone line VOIP?

Not VOIP and doesn't appear to be the alarm.

Panasonic thinks it is a voltage issue with the incoming phone line since the system requires more stable power.

No battery back up or surge protector.

Did they give you some suggestions to fix the problem? Was it line current they were talking about or was it line voltage?

Just curious if they gave you a definite solution to your problem. I've got several of those sandman.com line current filters stashed around if you need some.

Line current. I havent heard back from the client in about a week since he was supposed to call the phone company to run some test.

I will post more when I hear more.

I know this is an old post, but if you get this can you tell me how you fixed the problem? We recently purchased refurbished Panasonic kx-tg764 series phones and are having the same problems and Panasonic is no help. Thanks,

Cindy,
you've probably figured out that you'll get the best results by sending PMs or emails to the folks involved. They might not be looking here any more as their problem is solved either by solving it or by replacing the system.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Sadly I dont remeber this instance or the resolution. It was 6 years ago.

Your system is a different animal all together. These are complex commercial grade phone systems with voicemail services.

If you havent tried replacing the phones, I would start there. If that doesnt work you will probably need to hire someone to test the lines and outlets to ensure your wiring and connectivity is correct.

You can try describing the problem further here such as when the call is dropped. When linking to cell only? If so, how is your cell service? Does the link work over bluetooth and are you leaving that range of bluetooth?

Options are almost endless. Need more info.
