Chris, that's great news... good luck to you with the new endeavor.

How the heck did you form a new company and land and start your first project all in about a weeks time?

Make sure you've got all the proper back-end stuff done (business license, state resale cert, insurance, any trade licensing that might be required in your state, etc.) or are at least working on it.

Today we started our first project under the new company. It's a $78K hotel renovation job. We wired 27 speakers after lunch and didn't really make a dent in the wiring. The project will include 3 130" motorized screens & projector lifts, HDMI & VGA distribution, digital signage, outdoor bar TVs, and a total of over 80 70v speakers. It feels like a good start for our new operation.

That sound cheap for all that.

I took the day off to go skiing with my daughter's field trip. First time I've had a pair of skis on in over 20 years. Now I'm heading to the liquor store for some pain killers. 😉

Spent time today replacing some rotten wood on the house. We are putting it on the market as we are looking for a bigger space (house is under 1500 sq ft). I forget how nice it is to work with your hands and not worry about firmware thats outdated, or problematic, power surges, network congestion, and annoying ass crying babies or kids playing a trombone 3 feet from your ear while trying to program a remote. Overall was a nice relaxing day.

Its not rg6.

Dish is on the roof right?

Do you want me to replace the box?

Im not parked legal.

Things the Dish network guy has said so far to get out of doing his job for $200, Alex.

My responses...

Its 1829P. This is RG6. And more importantly this cable has worked fine for This Dish customer for 10 years.

Nope, dish is right there on the balcony.

I would probably start with checking the signal and possibly repointing the dish...but if you want to throw a new box at it...go for it.

Now i wait for him to make a 6' rg6 patch cable and find legal parking downtown at 3:30PM while its snowing.

Dropped the NV off at 8:30 this morning at the dealership.
I'm told it will take 3-4 hours.
Now I'm back to pick it up at 5:45 and is not ready.
Twice as long as promised.
Yep most likely my last visit here.

Good question. We had actually closed this project with the old company before he shut it down. He actually signed over all past & current customers to our new operation. Even sold us his vans and all his bulk wire inventory.

To clarify, I don't have any stake in the company, I just care a lot about its success.

Unfortunately, it is a gold TV stand... and gold TV... and gold speakers.  It's the Bang & Olufsen 90 year anniversary collection and I agree that it doesn't work in the house with all the neutral colored marble, terrazzo and chrome.

[Link: bang-olufsen.com]

I brought it up with the designer and mentioned I could bring someone in to cover the gold with either black or silver vinyl but it seemed to get dropped and was never discussed again.

The TV stand is integral with the B&O Avant TV and rotates into preset positions when the television is turned on.  Here's what it looks like in action.  If you watch closely you can also see the speaker bar drop from the bottom and extend:

Dude, what kind of motors are in those blinds? Sounded like a garage door opening.

They're older AC powered MechoShade units in a dual roller configuration with blackout and sheer rollers.  Not as loud as a garage door, but definitely way louder than Lutron rollers.

I've done a bunch of tune-up and repair on the MechoShade stuff in the house and after installing the new Lutron shades in the Kitchen, it's been an easy sell to upgrade the older shades with Lutron.  The homeowners couldn't believe how quiet they are in comparison.

Put a new Larson full view storm door on the beach house.

Instructions were not so great, and the damn thing came in a million pieces.

Thought it would take an hour or so, silly me.

Planning our "wild West" trip.

Fly into Seattle, buy an old car, go to Victoria, BC for a couple days, then head for Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Big Horn and Mt. Rushmore before heading South to Texas and parts east.

Once you leave Rushmore, what route to Texas are you taking?

Not sure John. I'm really just playing it by ear after hitting Yellowtone, Teton and Rushmore.

I estimate we'll have 5 or 6 days to get back home at that point, and really want to spend a lot of that on secondary roads rather than interstates.

There is a perfect car for your trip for sale near me. 1964 Lincoln Continental. Suicide doors, all original, claimed 35k miles. "runs and drives". :) It is a patina infused rat rod in its current state. But would be an adventure for sure. I really wish I could buy it. But my garage is not long enough and I would not want to leave it on the street to rot with the help of neighborhood riff raff.

Garage length was never criteria until i got a lincoln. I sold it. I miss the car but i don't miss everything else that went along with it.

Hmmmm....

Where is that? Is it online?

Best thing I've found so far is Karman Ghia coupe, but Im betting it won't be around in September.

Hoping to nail something down in late July or August, and have a friend that lives up in the Seattle area pick it up and keep it at his house until we get there.
