3ped,

Hearts on Fire is nothing but good marketing. You can do much better at a local jeweler who can also replicate any setting you like. If you were closer I would send you to mine.

Ugh, I know I know. I've been to two local jewlers, asked them for a "hearts and arrows cut" in the setting she loves. By the time they find something close, get a hearts and arrows cut diamond in the same quality I am at or near the HOF price.

Both told me HOF is a quality piece and even though it's inflated and your paying for a name, this particular setting and diamond is very fairly priced :/ I have one more jewler to stop in at tomorrow to see, but these two independent guys were genuinely honest with me, and they were close in price. And they both said that the price just included a HAA diamond cut, none of the other diamonds in the band would be cut like that....

What I've learned is you can get away with a lesser quality diamond that will sparkle and shine as long as it is cut premium, and unfortunately what I was reading was true, only Hearts On Fire and Hearts and Arrows cut diamonds like that!

:/ I'm going Friday to order it, 5 months out because her ring size is 4.25 and apparently that is super uncommon ! I'm cutting it so close for my proposal date, so much so that I'm thinking about not having it engraved incase it doesn't show up in time!

Brendon, how do you know her ring size?
Does she know what you're up to?

VM said it was a business loan opportunity.

Guess I should stay up 24/7 in case he calls again.

Personally I would prefer a diamond that has better color and clarity than the supposed cut that HOF has. At the end of the day though if she's not happy its your problem. Good luck with everything. You may want to get the ring one size up in case she ever gains some weight (pregnancy). They can usually put a piece in it to make it smaller, where if it needs to be made bigger they have to cut the setting to expand it.

It's funny, when we started this hunt all the diamonds that were in my price range just we're not impressive, even under the jewlers light. We saw a perfect rated diamond that was nice but just didn't sparkle like I thought a diamond would of that clarity. I am a guy that finds jewlery not impressive and feel as if diamonds are a scam (well the whole jewlery business is a scam) I was having a very hard time chalking up the money for something that I felt wasn't very unimpressive. Then we went into HOF and that all changed, I swear the s2v diamond was clearer then the perfect diamond we saw, even out in the dingy mall light! I too started this quest wanting the best diamond possible, but the reality is its pointless since nobody carries around a scope :/ and if it's cut like normal then it just doesn't do the diamond any justice :/ I just don't get why HOF and HAA are the only two companies that does a pristine cut!

Her ring size is actually a 4, but we're going with 4.25 because of possible future kids and swealling in the summer!

My engagement was probably delayed months maybe even longer because the entire concept of spending that much money on a little piece of stone seemed ridiculous to me. It took me a while to come to terms with it.

It's cute how he thinks it will only go up a quarter.

Brendon, remember what I told you! Check out all of her female relatives to figure out how's she's gonna age. Don't just base your conclusions on her mom. Meet her aunts, grandmothers, even cousins to make sure you won't get a surprise in a few years

Ha-ha do you apply some sort of weighted average formula for each person depending on how close in relation they are? Mother and sisters are heavily weighted, grandmothers, cousins slightly less weighted, etc.

Haha, weighted, I get it!
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Nope, pick the ugliest one and multiply that by 1.3.

Another brutal day on the slopes:

I hiked up to the base of this range last summer, Gore lake is one of the prettiest places I have ever found.
When good enough is not good enough.
