So your saying it has been a while since you shot your gun??? Well, THAT too! My old man took away my rifle when I was 17. He found out we were down at the gravel pit shooting cans, and then a big Blue - Heron flew up from the bushes, and, it sounded like a Viet Nam firefight as all of us were firing away at it. One of us hit it, and it crashed to ground, and we just kind of stood there looking at each other like..."Oh Sh*t" feeling pretty bad about it. Stupid kids...!

All you had to do was say "It's comin' right for us!", then shoot it....self defense at that point. Don't you watch South Park?

Today I had some time to look into changing few light bulbs that my kid has been asking me about for a week or two. Between few rooms, I need about 10 40-Watt A19 bulbs (dimmable). It's too late now to go to HD, WalMart is still open... Looking at this: 60W Equivalent Eco-Incandescent A19 Soft White Dimmable Light Bulb (4-Pack) [Link: homedepot.com] it states: Life: 0.9 years (based on 3 hours per day) Really!?! 0.9 years! That's 41 days if I leave it on 24/7. Even at a suggested 3 hours a day, that's less than a year. I would love to be an electrician installing those bulbs at full hourly rate. Obviously warranty would be like 3 hours :-)

Incandescent light bulbs? They're still around?
Thinking back I'm fairly certain we haven't installed one incandescent light bulb in 2015. The price of LED for incandescent equivalents with the efficiency and longevity has been tilted towards LED for quite awhile now. Once the price for LED comes down for halogen equivalents (MR16, GU10, etc), I'll be thrilled, can't stand halogen lamps. I've even started receiving spec sheets calling for LED tubes instead of T8 fluorescent for offices.

Having LED tubes in the shop is great.
Now the lights will actually turn on in the winter.

I have 3 of them in my 3,200SqFt shed and it lights up the place. All of 120W worth of lighting in that large open space. Like you said, it's great to have something that will give instant light in cold weather.

I haven't found LED bulbs that can reliably dim to 5-10% or do soft start. I'm using UPB (or HLC). What LEDs are you using in your dimmable lighting control? BTW, the few CFLs and LEDs that I use on outside garage do work well (except for CFLs having to warm up in winter).

I'd have to pull one of the bulbs, but I do have two LED bulbs in a half bath that are working on one of the old URC/Lutron dimmers.

Currently using mostly Cree LEDs (with a few freebie Philips Floods tossed in some areas). About 70 lamps and had about 5 fail with the blink of death that I had replaced under warranty. When I did make the switch, I replaced my RadioRa1 system to standard Maestro CL rated dimmers. Went for the Maestros because due to a "glitch" at Lowes, they had the prepacked 3-ways marked down to $14.95. That was a good day.

My only problem with LEDs vs Halogen/Incandescent is that when you have a dimmer, they don't work smoothly. For example, when you turn on the light, an LED bulb starts abruptly at 10-15% and then intensifies from there. You don't get the smooth gradation from 0 that you do with old style technology.

Reported my brother missing. Have not been able to contact him or receive any messages or texts in 2 weeks. Left several voice messages..."Please call etc." --- Finally had the police go check on him. He wasn't around, car gone, neighbors have not seen him. Very, very unusual.
