The guy that lost his thumb stopped by the jobsite today and they were able to reattach it but his whole hand looks like a big Q-Tip! I'm sure it will never be the same, but he said the surgeon was confident it will work properly.
He was walking by and another worker ask him to help move an outdoor lounge chair that was on the patio. The back was propped up and fell when they moved it an his finger was in the wrong place... Someone needs to promote him to a desk job or let him go. It just aint worth it :).

Sorry, my post wasn't very clear. He didn't get hurt a second time, I was just trying to explain they he got hurt doing something very mundane. He wasn't moving a Subzero or huge cabinet, just helping someone move an patio chase lounge over a few feet.
He's the boss... owns a specialty plaster and finish company.

Nice looking work! I did a smaller Planar Mosaic wall last summer and was impressed with the quality and design. Is that QuestAI fabric track? Yes, the QuestAI track and Guildford's fabric, but through their commercial partner. The quantities are huge. I wish every restaurant would use acoustical material. Most places are way too loud.

I just realized that this is my RC anniversary month. Way back in May 2007 i joined RC as 39CentStamp. 8 years ago! OMG where did the time go? I feel like it was just a couple of years ago. I still had most of my hairline back then. Now it has all migrated to my ears and back. I have used RC since the Pronto TS-1000 was the bees knees. Another user name i created in 2004 was ElCheepO. A whopping 7 posts with that name because i was single and living in Chicago and had an actual life to live... [Link: remotecentral.com]And an even older user name i used to have was Stall IN from 2002. A whole 5 posts with that user name lol This is one of me ranting... [Link: remotecentral.com]Before 2002 i only came here for Pronto files...i had no idea there was even a forum here :). My first visit was in 1999 0r 2000. 15 years at Remote Central but you have only had to listen to me (or skip past) for 7 (lucky you).

I wish every restaurant would use acoustical material. Most places are way too loud. I'm finishing up a project with over 2000 linear feet of the QuestTrac and 300-400 yards of Guiford fabric (kind of lost track). It's a residential job, but has acoustic treatment of some sort in almost every room. The QuestTrac has worked well, but the installation is a combination of it and traditional wrapped panels. In agreement that restaurants should put more focus on acoustics. There are several great restaurants here that my wife and I seldom go to because the acoustics are so bad you can't have a conversation.

About to wrap up this theater. Used to be a kids play room. Total control system, Tru Audio Speakers, The basics. The riser has a built in slide out for the Great Dane lounge. Turned out pretty cool. Seats should be in Next week. Grate Dane lounge? Is this a "thing" or is it literally a bed for the family pet?

Yesterday I went to Qdoba (place sucks compared to chipotle) and pulled up next to a somewhat nice car with a hispanic man texting...Didn't think anything of it. Went in got our food and enjoyed the nice weather outside, Shortly after finishing our meal I looked up and saw his hood popped. He kept flagging people down to ask for a jump and a few cars stopped and then drove off, Others just flat out ignored him.
So we went to throw out our food and walk back to the van where he yelled "hey guys do you mind giving me a hand, everyone seems to be ignoring me" I said of course I would be glad to give you a jump". We got him jumped and starting closing our hoods, He was so thankful and gracious he kept trying to give us money ($40) I just chuckled and said c'mon man it was no big deal happy to help. He then got noticeably upset, and genuinely shook my hand and said thank you, I didnt think I would be able to get to work on time.
This being said we were in a very very affluent area, He spoke very good English and his car certainly wasnt a hoopty. That moment opened my eyes to something and I am genuinely annoyed with society.

Human Beings just suck as a group, don't get me going on that one.
In general there are different sides to this story.
You also here of these stories where people do this and get someone to help and them proceed to beat the shit out of them or worse. Here in Southern California its an everyday occurrence. Affluent areas are better targets for this.
I tell my daughter to never stop to help and that her best way to help is call 911 or the local police to assist. I don't want her stopping for anybody ever unless she is witness to an accident.
Some people are not equipped to deal with these situations safely, BUT most people are just ASSHOLES.
I will go out of my way to help if I can, but I feel I am better equipped to help, both physically and mentally in these situations. I pay attention to my surroundings and wont put myself in a bad situation. If I sense stranger danger, tail lights baby.
I don't really think this was just a straight up race issue here, but I cant say for sure, I was not there.

I was going to say the same thing, people suck for many reasons but the mere fact that it could be a potentially dangerous situation is a big reason nobody helps anymore. It's truly sad but you never know how psychotic the person in alleged need is.

Imagine if his English were poor and his car was a hoopty. Thank goodness my ancestors did the heavy lifting when they got to this country. I don't know what i would do if the way i speak and what care i drove determined whether or not someone stopped to help me.

Yesterday I cut down a Lutron drapery track in the field. Had to completely disassemble it, shorten both drive belts, shorten and modify the aluminum track and then put it all back together and get everything within 1/8".
Shortening the drive belts was the most difficult part. They are steel reinforced nylon belts that had to be drilled to re-attach the carriers that hold them together.
The track is recessed into some millwork and the design changed after the drapery track was ordered. If anyone needs to do this in the future look me up and I can give you some pointers. I gave up being a CI a few years ago now due to health issues but am now the National and International sales manager for a tubular motor company that also does curtain tracks and motors. That Lutron system looks like a massive PITA compared to most other systems I've seen (not just ours). I haven't seen another system that requires you to drill through the belt to attach the fittings (although they may exist). Most simply clip and lock onto the belt. Assuming the track is already cut it's literally a 5-10 minute job getting a working track assembled from start to finish including lubricating and tweaking for super smooth operation.
