Started working for myself today! Friday was my last day at V*****n. I've been in business part time (which quickly turned into a full time job as well) for a long time and me and the wife thought it was time to jump in with both feet! I woke up this morning and felt a huge sigh of relief thinking that I didn't have to go to my old job anymore!

Congrats. I did the same thing, left V*****n last Sept. after 13 years and juggling both since 2006.

Today we received a signed contract for a $117K job! We already received $19.5K for the prewire and security & surveillance systems. Not bad considering there is no lighting included (we were called in too late to design a panelized system), and the TV mounts & installation (18) will be additional.

This project has been super stressful because ever since we bid on the prewire, my previous employer has been trying to take the job from us. Competition is fine but they attempted to sabotage our involvement twice, with dirty underhanded stunts. I'm just glad we maintained the high road & it is going to pay off.

January is gonna be a fun month...can't wait to see stacks of speakers, amps, & Control4 gear start coming in after Christmas!

Been there. A former co worker stole a big one from me recently. Sucks

Today I spent most of the day troubleshooting my Endurance EBP0175 boiler.
I've been without radiant heat since Christmas eve and was reminded how nice radiant floor heat is.
Turned out to be a stuck flow switch on the domestic side; still not sure why that prevented the boiler from processing signal from radiant side while domestic was working without a hitch.

All in all, a very satisfying day with no need for new parts.

Good evening friends,

I know I've been pretty quiet on here for a while, but wanted to say thank you for all the help over the years and to let you know, were continuing to grow up as a company and took a large step forward today as a friend of mine and I closed on the purchase of a commercial property in Bellevue, WA.

We'll be doing a complete renovation and hope to have our showroom up and running by the beginning of June; it won't be huge, our portion of the building will start at about 1400sqft but its very exciting and I wanted to share the news with all of you and welcome you to come visit once were done/if you're ever in the area.

Yeah super congrats to you in the purchase.

Try your damnedest to make the showroom a secondary focus and keep your customers first. Harder to do that to say.

The rack's a nightmare...the Pioneer Elite AVR actually died from overheating while I was on site. We will be going back to completely redo the rack and wire management.

Our Q1 is looking ridiculous so far. On the big project we're in the middle of, they want to upgrade to a larger theater screen & want us to provide a 46" mirror TV along with all the rest of the mirror wall for the exercise room. Then yesterday we were asked to provide all 19 displays & mounts, which was not part of the original contract.

The sales/design guy closed 3 jobs on Wednesday at around $60k, which will include some fun stuff like C4 panelized lighting, a theater with fiber optic star ceiling, etc. We got two customers who want us to take over & overhaul their nice-sized C4 systems. We're doing a prewire for a builder who wouldn't work with us before... I just don't know how I'm going to maintain my sanity!

this is my 4th day this week troubleshooting Crestron DMPS's. I should say that so far it doesn't appear that the DMPS's are the problem.

This is my 2nd day on this particular project. I spent 6 hours on Thurs, probably an hour a few days before that. And been on this since 7:30 this morning (got a late start).

We've been on this commercial project since Dec 15th, working almost every day, save a couple Sundays and the exact Holiday day's. I usually come in from 6 am to lunch around noon. My 2 guys are averaging 10-12 hour days at 65 hours a week on site, plus 45 min to 1.5 hr drive each way errr-day.

I'm guessing we have 1 more week of install and 2nd week of commissioning. We mainly just ran PM on the project up to last week when they realized they had to let us get our hands dirty to only miss the deadline by a couple weeks instead of 2-3 times that

That shit makes my body start twitching, I just don't get it, at all.

And congratulations on what looks to be a prosperous new year!
