Today:

Played tourist in Southport, NC with the wife. We shopped a bunch of the small artsy fartsy shops and antique shops, then went to The Yacht Basin Provision Company ([Link: provisioncompany.com]) for a late lunch.

Steamed shrimp with crab cakes and some cold Corona's while sitting on the dock looking out over the sound at all the fishing boats (there's a tournament going on).

At the last minute we added some fried onion rings, so we had to have another Corona. :-)

What a great day!

I had to double take your post, I live in southport UK, and coincidently re-discovered Corona's after a 20 year break when going to a canal side pub this summer.

Normally not that busy with my company, but recently, between 2 jobs, school (online DeVry) and family, I have no time for anything.

Going for my BEET. Right now I have ET Associate degree from DeVry from '96. My best friend decided to go back and he's dragging me along.
I'm not liking it, but it's a piece of paper that I hope never to need. Guess it's like insurance.

One of these trips we will. But haven't so far.

Shoot, we haven't even done the Battleship tour yet, and have only once gone down to the waterfront in Wilmington.

Where r u at in NC?

Battleship is pretty cool if you are into that type of thing. Of course they wouldn't let me go all the places I wanted to go on it.

I did enjoy Bald Head when I got to work out there. Also took family and had a good time there.

Live most of the time in Greensboro, NC, and the remainder (and better) of the time at Oak island, NC.

The plan is to move there permanently in a few short years, but for the time being I go every other week or so.

The prices you've been quoted are reasonable...Be sure to ensure and/or manage site prep so that the client's place is not powdered by the repair process. An ounce of prevention = a pound of cure where drywall dust is concerned...

I experienced my first [and so far only--Knock/Knock] sheetrock incident a couple years ago. I was running new cables from the far side of a large MBR to bedside for headphones. I crawled hands-and-knees in parallel with joists above the trey ceiling to get to the wall behind the head board where there happened to be a cluster of crossing flex duct, romex, duct hangers, plumbing vent, etc. When I tried to spin around amidst the obstacles and head back, my knee pad slipped off of the joist and my knee rammed through the ceiling below--right above the wife's side of the bed [in a large room with only a bed and a dresser, I bust the ceiling above the cali-king bed!].

I immediately performed a temp repair on the sheetrock to make the room livable, cleaned up every spec of dust and rubble and then contacted a sheetrock repair and painting contractor I trusted to fix the damage and repaint the entire ceiling ASAP--Net cost was approximately $400.

In the end, however, I blamed my client to HIS FACE. Just prior to the start of potentially difficult retrofit work on the MBR, he said [seemingly out of nowhere], "...Just don't fall through my ceiling!" I reminded him of all the stellar retrofit work I'd performed in his home [without incident] and asked why he'd worry...He went on to tell me of a contractor who'd come by a year prior to give him a bid on completing his unfinished attic. He left the contractor alone to investigate and a few minutes later, the contractor fell through the ceiling of the guest bedroom! [contractor did not get the job...].

I call JINX.

We did a simple retro fit install for a client that had all his equipment. We provided some IC surround speakers and a ProControl (1-way) control setup. Required some fishing and outdoor conduit, but not bad. All in all the install went really well without any hangups. Had the remote programmed in no time (tv, denon avr 2808, bluray, cd changer, radio, uverse).

This was our first project with uverse. OMFG!!!! We spent probably 3 hours trying to get rock solid control of the uverse, changing eyes, adjusting IR output, placement. As soon as we'd think it'd be right, after like 20 consistent commands it would stop and go 4-8 presses without response.

It was SO inconsistent, but would work a little no matter what we did. It was horrible. In the end I'd say it was 90-95% consistent but not good enough for me. We have to figure something out.

So after a 13 hour day yesterday of installing and outdoor system (4 pairs of Episode 6.5" Outdoors with a dedicated Sonos Connect:AMP for each, sounded really good, more power would be better but the balance was just perfect and the new landscaping and pool was awsome, planning to go take some pics when I have time). BUT after finishing up the speakers spent 4-5 hours trying to get their Wi-Fi coverage just right. It's an OLD house and very tricky. Was using two Ruckus 7363's. Had a to troubleshoot some cabling and finally found a 'pretty good' balance.

But then got to do another 13 hour day today...not counting the office time after I got home of course. I love being this busy, but it's difficult to keep up.

I feel your pain, Sofa. Every time I see a Uverse box, I start to cry like a little girl. So far, all of the ones I've encountered have been in Control4 systems. I've never been happy with the results. As a matter of fact I have an appointment booked later in the week to go back and try to improve reliability on one. Good luck!

really? what has been the problem? I have done several Uverse & C4 systems with no problems. Yeah its a pita to find the right spot for the flasher, but once it's in place everything just works.
Which driver are you using?

OT - has anyone successfully taken apart a uverse box to burry the IR flasher? The last one I had the chance to do this I spent around 15 minutes trying to get the whole thing open and it was such a pita I cut my losses, put it back together and put the flasher on the outside. I really don't like uverse for anything.

I sent this camera pic to my syster in NY. It's from my home's office window.
Before you say how nice and pretty, know this. I was going to pick up some speakers from my local ADI branch this morning, but apparently they're out of power becaue of some baloon issues: [Link: kob.com]

Hmm...apparently I haven't been using the right driver...because I haven't been using one at all. I must not have looked hard enough and have been using one I made from scratch. Mind sharing which one you've had success with?
