Hi guys, did anyone please have a solution to the download problem with Vista and the TSU 9600?

It's madness, I've got the TSU9600 and my laptop has Vista Ultimate on it. I can run the program and edit the config etc. But I just can't download...it failes with numerous types of HC5, HC12 errors..

Anyone help? Is there a work around?

Cheers

Download MS Virtual PC, set up a virtual machine on your laptop, load Windows XP and do all your configuration from there. That way you still have access to all the features in Vista and can use XP whenever there is a need to. This may be the best solution for all those Vista users until a credible fix (service packk) is available.

Most of us have no trouble at all running on Vista. Someone who did have trouble found that it worked when they turned User Account Control off.

Hi Peter, UAC is off here. Will try VPC but that's a bit mad as a long term solution...also a pain in the arse to setup. I just want Philips to make it work on Vista. :) It's an expensive remote so it should be sorted.

This is related to a clash of HID's between hardware.
I have the same problem.
My set up includes a desk based wireless keyboard and mouse and a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse for use in a remote living room. I have determined through a process of trial and elimination that the HID for the wireless set up is causing the conflict so when I connect to the remote I first have to disable the relevant HID entry, use the Bluetooth set up to control the download, disconnect the remote then re enable the wireless set up.
HID's can be managed through Control Panel: System: Hardware Device Manager. You should then be able to see the HID's under Human Interface Devices.

I have reported this issue to Philips but no feedback....no surprise there!!!

Have a go and see how you get on

On an XP laptop I had an HID issue and was able to resolve it by deleting two configured, but unused HID's.

On a second XP laptop, I could not resolve the issue.

I can't get this to work..I've removed all HIDs other than the Pronto itself which also intalls itself as a HID. When Vista first came out early this year I could understand this...but it's apporaching a year for release now and it really isn't acceptable that this still doesn't work. Why should we be fannying around trying to disable HIDs? Philips should just make this work.

I'm off to install a TSU9600 for a friend today and I can't use my laptop which is VERY poor.

When Vista first came out, which is over a year ago now, communications did not work at all. Not surprising, as I have other stuff that does not work including a brand new HP scanner. Philips brought out a new release, around June this year, which worked under Vista. Most of us have had no problem with this version. There seems to be two problems - one to do with using it alongside a particular wireless keyboard and the other is similar to your problem. It could easily be a Microsoft problem rather than Philips. Microsoft released Release Candidate 1 of SP1 for Vista late last week. Maybe that fixes the problem.

I was not able to use vista to download to my tsu9600. Finally when the rom upgrade was released this was fixed. It was not just the newer version of ProntoEdit Pro, but also the new firmware which finally helped! Funny thing was that although I could not download to the 9600 from vista, the firmware upgrade did work. Now all is well!

O.K. So now I have vista updated, So if I download a Pronto Edit Proffesional Version 1.1.20 (Build June 28, 2007) to use with a 9600, can I do a normal install and expect it to work smoothly (No HID nor UAC issues or otherwise), or do I have to install in XP mode or do anything special?

Shouldn't need compatibility mode now...

Install ProntoEdit Professional on my 32 Bit Vista.

First thing I noticed is it is the only installed program that is giving me the UAC warning when I launch it. The ICON on the desktop has the UAC Sheild on it as well.

If I right click on the icon and select the compatibility tab it is checked to run in "Windows XP Service Pack 2" mode. I did not select this it did it on its own during the install. I am not sure if it is suppose to be selected or not.

When I do launch the program and select allow in the UAC warning, the program launches normally and programming on it goes smoothly. The next issue happens when I try to get it to learn an IR code via the 9600. It does not give me an error code, but simply gives me a warning that it failed and it wants to send an error code.
I can select allow or cancel. Either one you select after you make a selection the entire program now shuts down.

I went back and unselected the windows XP compatibility mode, rebooted and tried it again with the same results.

I checked my copy, and compatibility mode is NOT checked.

PEP runs fully on Vista. If you are having learning problems it is most unlikely a problem with Vista.
