I checked my copy, and compatibility mode is NOT checked.

PEP runs fully on Vista. If you are having learning problems
it is most unlikely a problem with Vista.

I had a mixture of problems same as you guys after a format of my PC and fresh install of Vista Ultimate. Prior to the format it was working flawlessly.

Fixed the problem by unchecking the "run as administrator" box in the properties. Been fine ever since.

I have recently bought a new computer that obviously came with Vista. I am no longer able to connect to my TSU 9600 even with UAC off and unchecking "run as adminstrator" box in PEP properties. I get the message "HID not found" (Error C5). Is there something I am missing? Is there a Vista specific driver? I can see that the TSU 9600 is connected and appearing as a "USB Mass Storage Device" but it appears that PEP cannot see it... Any ideas?

I get this sometimes as well (running Vista Ultimate 64-bit). What I do, and it's a pain in the rear, is that I turn the computer off, then unplug the USB cable going to the computer. I also turn the Pronto off with the power switch. I then start the computer and when it is booted I reboot it again. After the reboot I plug the USB cable back in. And finally, after the USB cable, I turn on the Pronto and put it in the cradle once it is booted.

I don't have this whole procedure down to an exact science (is that even possible?) but it does do the trick for me.

Noteworthy is that this problem doesn't occur very often at all. :)

I hope this helps.

Did not. I have more confidence in this forum than any tech support...

Thanks for the advice. So far, I have never been able to connect my TSU 9600 on my new Vista computer. I am very disappointed with the situation; as someone said, Vista has been around for a while and there is no excuse for issues like this to perpetuate...

I sent a message through the Pronto support web site. Hopefully, that will help. I still cannot connect my 9600 on my Vista machine.

For some reason, my 9600 doesn't play nice with my Microsoft IR receiver. I have to unplug it every time I want to download an XCF. Are there any built in HIDs on the motherboard or anything that could be interfering?

Hi,I would like to tell everyone here my Pronto story and how I was able to download the firmware update and my config file,to my new TSU 9400.I had a TSU 7000 for a few years and decided to upgrade so I sold my 7000 on ebay and ordered the 9400 from B&H Photo N.Y.,this was where I obtained my 7000 from and the service from that company is beyond reproach. When the 7000 arrived that day it would not boot,I contacted them and they authorised a return gave me a phone number to arrange a pick up and a new 7000 was delivered to my door in Australia with in 6 days (NOW THAT IS SERVICE).Anyway my 9400 arrived last week and I set about designing a config file, after completing it I connected up the 9400 to my Vista Ultimate PC and do'nt you no, the config would not download/so after a lot of research on the net,and no answers.I remembered I had read on the Pronto site that Vista might need the SP1 update,so I decided to format my drive and re-install the OS with the SP1 update. And again you know still the same, issue's were can not find HID device and firmware download tool would not update. And I say Phillips Have some work to do,Iam in communication with them now.Anyway I thought another DUD!!,so I contacted B&H Photo N.Y. and there service was again impeccable.Instantly replying with a return authorisation,I was about to pack it up when a light went on in my little over Pronto'ed brain. And I thought one last try,I will set up a dual boot with XP on a separate drive.I did and booted to XP,installed Pronto Pro Edit/connected the 9400,opened the firmware tool/downloaded the latest firmware, opened Pro Edit/opened my config file/downloaded to the 9400 all without 1 single error(perfect). So Vista/9400 combo is flawed,it is unacceptable this far into Vista as an OS,I see a lot of people complain about Vista, although the issue's are all fixable. And Phillips needs to really get it together, all Pronto's are expensive tools(toys)and for it not to work properly with the current OS well as I said "unacceptable".A long post I know,I hope it is of use to somebody(it worked for me)

The Pronto Professional works fine on Vista (from day 1). A small number of people have had issues, but most of us have had no trouble. I have actually used 4 different computers running Vista without any trouble.

Things you might try (though I am not sure whether you need them) - use an account with admin rights and turn off User Account Control.

Thanks Peter for your comments,Iam the administrator of my PC and have tried the UAC on and off.It is very strange how your PC's are all compatible and mine is not,and I put my PC together myself ,it is a very high end unit of very careful and thought out construction.Anyway for the moment Dual boot will do until I find an answer. Also I found a very easy way to learn my Beyonwiz DP-P1 codes to the TSU 9400 if anyone is interested/post and I will reply, actually it is there in the software/ and most of you probably Know anyway//Cheers

The Beyonwiz codes are all on the Beyonwiz web site (in the forums area). I posted there on how to convert them to Pronto format.

Try PEP V2 now that it is released. It might make a difference.

My HP Vista machine isn't either but it may not be the computer as such. Got an e-mail from ProntoTeam on the matter. They say I should remove all other USB devices as it is often the problem (Bluetooth mouse for example). I'll have to dig up my old mouse and give it a try...
