Take a look at these reports:

Interesting. Hope as much of the team can keep their jobs as possible in the event of another company taking over.

I hope whatever form it takes will allow for enthusiasts to get in on the action and that they will keep the hardware side of things (hard button remotes with multi-touch screens maybe). Some sort of basic enthusiast option where you can buy the remote and you get basic support e.g. if hardware breaks it gets replaced, an option where you get editing software and firmware (I don't mind if new versions carry a small fee - e.g. 20/30 dollars/GB pounds - enthusiasts will likely go for that in the same way many people buy new versions of software for features). The other thing would be if the tech can be licensed out and they could make more money and hopefully keep the quality side going.

Huh? The Bitwise Project Editor is exactly what you're looking for. GUI based, very easy to understand and deploy, ridiculously powerful macro capabilities, excellent reliability and can be as customized as you would ever want while allowing for easy repeatability for projects that you run over and over. Also, the team at Bitwise is far from a bunch of idiots. Rather, they are super sharp, financially sound, very support oriented and have the ability to rip out custom code and solutions in record time. I, personally, have never had a better experience with any other vendor. Sounds to me like someone has a "sour grapes" issue. Want to tell the whole story, Dave?

No leverage, no re-usability. It is like 1980 all over again.

Dave, regarding your comments on Project Editor (especially in the un-edited version of your last post), as I pointed out previously in this thread we do have a ton of major improvements in final beta right now. Not to mention a couple of other major time-saving features I didn't even mention (Whole-page device command drag/drop, etc). Based on the amazing growth, support, and feedback we're seeing from our dealer base, I think we're on the right track.

By the way, I did get a nice chuckle out of the name you called some of our team.

There are no updates on the matter for now (at least not public ones), the closing date (30.11.2010) is approaching, then we'll see what is going on.

I have a hunch that any major news (like the new company that will make the prontos and brand them) will be made public at ISE2011. At least it would make sense if they did so.

Problem is, what do I do in the mean time with the customers that are waiting for their pronto's...

The only thing you can do, stock up. I called every client that was thinking about getting a remote (or another remote), and told them what's going on. Some ordered them, others did not.

I checked all my regular distys yesterday; 3 discontinued and sold off all the inventory already, one only had 1 left (yes, I got it), and last one still shows them avail for order, but I can't tell if they have any on hand.

I did get a bit upset on Friday, when I went into one disty (to pick up unrelated items) and asked about the Prontos. Counter guy told me they blew the entire inventory already, and a local guy picked up all 19 nationwide demo units (TSU9600) for such a steal, I almost cried. Oh well, you snooze, you lose, right?

Tried that, but our rep (yes we have only 1 here) is having problems getting them.

Well let's see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

All of my distributors are out of stock. I managed to locate a TSU9600 through Amazon - it should arrive tomorrow. There are a few RFX9400's available.
