Good site, but unfortunately, the professional area is not available yet. Hopefully soon, as I understand that they have improved the Prontoscript module download area.

Called my dealer and they said they can no longer get the software for me as they've stopped selling the Pronto. I guess I'm stuck now. I wouldn't mind if Philips charged a small amount for the software and said - unsupported to everyone expect installers. I can support myself.

I can still use the Pronto with existing software, but I guess it's end of the line for new features for me.

The savant device is $400 (bit much) without ipod touch (and haven't seen mention of IR). I wish someone would do a better version for lower price, or create a complete remote using android.

Like others, I am furious at this unethical and stupid move by Philips, which may appease electricians but shuts out the majority of its customer base. Programmability was the only reason why I have bought Prontos for the past 12 years, and obviously I will look now elsewhere.

Amazing that a company blocks access to software which is an integral part of the hardware it sells (the Prontos are basically useless unless they are programmed).

On the other hand, the large, deep, mysterious Internet does have ways to deploy very effective remedies to such situations! As the Bible says, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear..."

All logins has to be done new. The login key has to be asked at the local distributor. It seems they will control who is using the site and only professionals are allowed to reconnect to the professional part.

so, what remote is everyone gonna buy next? Obviously not a Pronto. Way to kick your loyal fanbase in the nuts.
May the pronto be with you

My current system includes 2 TSU9600's, 1 TSU9400 and 2 RFX9400's. I don't know about anyone else, but the next remote I purchase will most definately be a Pronto. In fact, at some point I plan on purchasing 2 additional TSU9600's, 1 TSU9400, 4 RFX9400's and some spare batteries, then tucking them away in the closet for a rainy day. If and when I need to have something serviced and that's no longer an option I'll have my own replacement units on hand. If something else better comes along down the line I'd rather use I'll simply sell what I have including initial programming if needed to get closer to the price that I want. Sure I may take a loss in the end, but it will be worth it knowing that I can maintain what I have for the next 10-15 years or more. Granted technology evolves exponentially over the years. That doesn't mean however, that something better will come along down line over the next 10 plus years I'd rather use to control my audio/video equipment. I don't need my remote to whistle dixie, make my coffee in the morning or even access the Internet for that matter. (Heck, I don't even own a smartphone and probably never will.) What I do need my remote to do is provide me with control over my audio/video equipment in the way that I see fit. The TSU9600 provides that for me in both form and function via the editor and I'm not even using PEP v2. Still using PEP v1 and had already planned to continue using PEP v1 for the life of the product line anyway, so it's not like I was expecting to be able to take advantage of future editor/firmware updates. My first Pronto was a TSU3000. Compared to some I was a little late to the party. That being said, I stayed with the Pronto line over the years, because no other manufacturer offered a "remote/editor" combination I'd rather use. I don't see that changing anytime soon just because the Pronto line is now discontinued.

Amen to that Lowpro! I feel the same way and it appears others do as well. My distributor had a run on units this week and is almost out of stock. Sounds like some dealers are stocking up not dumping. Wish I had the money to pick up another 9600 for myself right now. As a dealer with access to RTI, Universal and others, I would rather buy a used Pronto on eBay than something else new.

Is anyone gonna make PEP3 beta available? I can't see philips really caring if it goes public at this point...

Yup, Philips is still planning on releasing PEP3, although doesn't expect it to reach final status... just a good beta. I think it's great they're trying to finish it up as much as they can.
