I think this one's already been discussed several times. I though that prontoedit compiled your xml file edited in pronto edit into a binary file that is loaded on the pronto, hence not making it possible to convert it back from the remote.

One thing that would be useful was if, when you loaded your config onto the remote, you would have an option to load a compressed copy of your xcf file as well onto free space on the remote. for example if you have 8 meg space to fill with config and your config takes up 3, remaining space could be used to store your xcf file (some sort of encryption option could be provided so that if you wanted to retrieve the config you'd have to know the password to decrypt the xcf file - thereby protecting installers.

This will likely NEVER happen for reasons I cite in this thread. Your configuration is a software asset and it should be protected as such. Pronto is NOT the offsite backup you should be using.

Looks Like PEP v3 will soon be here. Hopefully there will be some great new features. Looking forward to it's release.

But just in case, here are my PEP v4 hopes and requests...

The ability to set the default font, font size and font colour etc
Currently, if a new widget is added to a project, the font always defaults to Pronto Maestro. If you are using a font other than Pronto Maestro....and you have 400 buttons....that's a lot of font adjustments!

A list view for fonts. The current drop-down box is hard work if you have a large number of fonts.

Improved graphical view under System and Activity Properties view - especially for the 9800. As an example, the labels on Firm Keys are hardly visible. Zoom function perhaps?

Galleries - Drag-and-drop in both directions.

Automatic PS tagging of any activities, pages and widgets added to the project.

   e.g. A page labeled "New Page" would be auto tagged 'PS_New_Page_1'

The ability to set the font size in the PS area. A colour option might be good as well, for descriptions etc

Something Like:

// This is a description //

function doSomePS() {
do.this("PS") = "Text"
do.that("PS");
}

The ability to view/edit actions and PS at the same time in the properties area and hopefully remove the PS enable button.

An 'auto complete' ability in the PS area...great for adding all those missing semi-colons etc.

Must Have! Line numbers in the PS area. Like most I don't use PEP for writing PS code, but line numbers would be handy for editing minor debug errors.

It would great to have a fully featured PS Dev environment to work with, but that would be a whole new package to create.

Well that's enough requests for now :)
"Home" is where my Pronto is.

A small item to add... although I think quite important... at least for me.

On occasion, the calibration on my remote will sometimes go completely haywire. I may have to calibrate it many times in a given day. Then it will settle down for while... could be days, weeks or months. The issue is that it would be helpful to have one of the firm buttons in the system settings of the remote access the calibration screen. I frequently have an extremely difficult time trying to press the soft ‘Calibrate’ button on the screen because the calibration is so off. I’m pressing on the extreme bottom edge of the screen and I am still only just hitting the cursor keys option button. To me, it makes more sense to make the calibration button a firm button instead of a soft button.

I think the issue with my particular remote in an uneven pressure being exerted behind the remote screen by the internal electronics or the case itself is slightly warped. I’ve been having this issue for a year or so, but I am reluctant to send it in for repair, as it is an intermittent issue and would be very difficult to diagnose.

Hi Scott

you know that Backlight, Menu, hardkey one is a short cut to the Calibration screen.

so you might be able to do a script on one button th achive this :)

Thanks for the pointer... can't say I came across that one yet. I will try to program this using ProntoScript. My wife thanks you to no end as she is about ready to pitch the remote against the wall.
