I dont think it is too early to start making request for the next version of PEP and since some people from pronto might come onto the site from time to time, it might be nice to let them know what enhancements we would like to see.

One request that i have is to have the ability to copy and paste from excel into the database. Going one command at a time kills me everytime i am working with a new device.

Moderators, feel free to kill this topic or revamp it if you have a better idea of how to gather suggestions for the next version of PEP.

what would be a good idea is the ability to actually simulate a connected Pronto and communicate and execute commands to the rfx whilst docked or connected to the pc from the simulator or an executable one. Making touchscreen monitors and remote desktop a viable solution for control. ofcourse philips dont want to lose revenue so the docking of the panel would be probably necessary but it shouldnt be too much work on their current software.

ZOrder for widgets is not a PEP request, but a firmware request.

I too, vote for this. I will pass link to this post along but your voices might be better heard via email to prontoteam.

Lyndel i do agree, however on a serious note the philips marketing team should rely on this site for marketing research and r and d improvements as they dont operate an internal forum of their own which admittedly i do find suprising. an email shouldnt be necessary for suggestions, only support. This in reality is really my only grime against the company as i repeatedly find with philips as their support resources are not as organised as other competitors despite my pure admiration for their products hence they always rely on their distributors.

The prontoteam closely monitors what goes on here. The high quality of RC made them draw the conclusion that a forum of their own would be redundant.

As for support in the US I can not vouch as the reorganisation in the US came later than in europe. In europe you will find your support chain: customer>vendor>distributor>prontoteam work very well. Very few queries need to go past several layers of support as the vendors are trained by distributors and dsitributors are highly skilled in pronto.

Our pronto dealers have left the competition in favour of pronto beacuse of the good support. Which is not the case with the other brands, where they are left to their own devices.

How about a tool that can help write ProntoScript just like the one that C Bus has for the logic on the touch screen.

I would like to see a built in prontoscript syntax & error checker like the one in adobe flash - allowing you to eliminate basic scripting mistakes without having to download to the panel and then wondering why script doesn't work....

That would personally save me a lot of time :-)

Having said that....

What I think would be more important right now is a hardware upgrade to the TSU 94-9800's.

A faster processor/ more responsive touchscreen to allow much better operation of things like gestures & processing data would be great from an end users point of view...

And how about the option of a different key beep on the TSU9600?

For this I use jslint, to clear the code and the simulator with Jon Welfringer's mod to try stuff with the equipment prior to downloading it to the remote.

On topic.

Maybe a larger panel edit area than the size of the screen would be a good Idea. It would allow users to hide things off screen, and make complicated side-scrollable (now that we have gestures) pages.

I agree with the possibility of different sounds on keys at system levels (not like now, an action list level).

Please let's keep this topic on PEP v3, not about the hardware od the pronto's.

In The Editor,

When it comes to centering images and pannels there are two options. Horizontal and vertical. If there was a third option to center vertical and horizontal at the same time in one button as default . Also a Keyboard shortcut.

The auto spacing doesn't always work perfectly, usualy the last one is a little off.

The default button and panel image selector in the building blocks takes up a lot of room on screeen. If there was a way to hide that as a option.

Save whole buttons to the building blocks section.

When selecting a page it opens in a new tab. There should be an option to have the selected page open in a new pannel automaticly. Right clck to open in a new tab.

An option to take a button and make into a grid pattern (auto spacing).  2x2,2x3,2x4,2x5,3x2,3x3,3x4,3x5,4x2,4x3,4x4,4x5, etc....    A prompt to choose the dimensions of the grid. Maybe auto numbering for labels.

A way to lock positions in the editor for images, buttons or groups.

In The Simulator,

A way to see an accurate way of how much memory is is used , free or is over by. On the systems page it says 100% free in version 2.3 .

Have an option for the debug or console to be seen automaticly when starting the simulator.

Have the 9400 fit the screeen automaticly without resizing . My current resolution is 1360 x 768 .

Here I got one that really should be implemented:

A tree of the widgets present on a page, the activity/page tree could be extended with the widgets.

Why would I need this? Sometimes I put lots of widgets one over another (as I believe many people do) and show the one I need. As things are now, if I want let's say change the image of one of the widgets that is somewhere deep under, i first have to move all of the other widgets from above of the intended widget and then perform the image swap. Then obviously reposition the widgets one over the changed one.

With the proposed enhancement, the integrator would simply choose the widget from the tree and apply the new image (or do anything else with it). Of course the tree should be collapsable.

A further enhancement would be the inclusion of the groups.

EDIT: I created a mockup of how it could look like:

What do you think about this? I also believe it should not be hard to implement.

I'm not talking about the z order, just something that would ease the UI customization process.

I added an image to the previous post, I hope it explains more.

It has nothing to do with the firmware (as Lyndel explained the z order would be a firmware request), just a buff of the UI of PEP.

I agree about widget selection option. However, IMO, treeview is not the place. I suggest a popup menu checkbox option for a page that show/hides a floating window that presents list of widgets that, upon selection would highlight/select the widget on the page.
