This makes me wonder if you did not have a conflicting IP address on your network that was coming in and associating on the IP you had configured for RFX9400.

Also, just because you put the RFX9400 to a fixed IP setting, I have to also ask when you were in this configuration did you also setup PEP (V1 or V2) to specify a fixed IP address for your extender? I have used RFX9400 and RFX9600 in Fixed IP mode for years (extender configured for fixed mode) and also make sure that I specify the ip address in the extender settings of PEP as Fixed.

As far as I could tell I did not have any conflicting IP addresses. I actually tried several fixed IP addresses before jumping to DHCP mode. And yes, I did enter the correct fixed IP address for the extender in PEP V2. It works like a charm now.

Great to hear you got things working Toverkoning.

If I have 2 TSU9600 with exactly the same configuration file on both (DHCP with no wifi encryption), one Pronto connects to the network and the other does not, does that indicate a hardware fault in the Pronto that doesn't connect? I am using a Pakedge W3 access point and it's been very reliable with Pronto; I'm at a loss to understand what's going on here, for intention purpose two exact same Pronto side-by-side, one connects normally 100% of the time, and the other does not connect ever (these are the only 2 devices attempting to join the network, the W3 is only used for Pronto).

brodricj,

I have occasionally seen Pronto's drop off the network and signed on again after a reboot. And, I have encountered units where the RF failed.

I had tried reboot several times, the Pronto just doesn't connect. All I can think of is RF/hardware failure of some sort. Any idea which part I need to fix this?

Hi guys im new here and need some help please.
I have a TSU9600 and RFX9400 that are no longer communicatuing... all I get is the command failed on the remote and the busy LED is solid red,
Inssider is showing a clash on the channel from a neighbour network would this be why?
I changed the extender to channel 11 and its ok but I need to change the channel in the remote.
How to do this?? I have prontoedit and know where the network setting etc are, but I do not have the program for the remote and understand you cannot get the program off the remote and am scared I will wipe the remote and then ill be screwed. im also unsure how to connect with the remote once connected to my PC by USB
Great website thanks!
Any help much appreciated.

Hi
the easiest option for you is ask your neighbour to change his channel number if you don't have your pronto program.Other wise you will have to recreate your pronto program.

The Busy red LED on the RFX9600 is due to interference this can be from things like , baby monitors, DECT cordless phones or someone else on the same wifi channel.

Ok thanks gopronto.
The neighbours network looks to be a lot stronger.
Changing the extender id switch on the back leaves the wifi green led on but busy goes off.. is this the same as changing channel? Or a different problem that still needs to be changed in the program?

On the TSU9400, position 1,2,3 are Wifi Channels 1,6,and 11,

But you will need to change your program on the Pronto TSU as well.

sorry im confused did you mean the RFX or TSU positions? I dont not have any switches on the TSU9600 rather I have three network position for selection of connection by cross cable or network, but also the extender ID switch with 16 position, changing to say 10 get rid of the busy led..
Im trying to get the program now but not the best time of year unfortunately.
Thank you very much gopronto.

Hi, I think you should get the installer to come and sort out your issue, otherwise you may end up with a none working system.

kiwisean,

I think that your best option would be working with the installer. If you have a PC, it is possible for the installer to send you the original program source or modify the RF channel and send you an executable program that you can run. This executable program can update the TSU9600.

For those interested in more background of the Pronto Setups, I highly recommend reading the Level 1 and Level 2 Certification PDFs here.
