Hi,
my problem is, that my 9600 does not connect anymore to my PC. I connect the plug - and nothing is happen. Before three month it worked without any problems. Okay - I reinstalled my 32Bit Vista Ultimate - but the Device also does not connect to an another PC.
I tried: - Used another PC - No Bluetooth Devices - removed the USB Mouse and Keyboard - bootet from a Windows recovery cd (bart-cd) - used another PC with XP SP2 - tried severals USB cables - tried an usb cable with an external Harddsik - it worked. I used the same Port and the same cable with the 9600 - nothing happend - tried to update the firmware: but I receive an error => Problems connecting the Control Panel - tried the Reset-Key Combination Home+Menu+Page Up AND afterwards Firmkey 2+3+4 for Firmware Update - tried to use the USB MiniUSB Port on the device itself and on the cradle - examined trouble in the device manager - examined trouble in Disk Management
Everytime the same. The computer does not recognize that 9600device. There is also no beeb during connecting my device - like I connect another mass storage device. I am going to despeate.... :(
Any suggestion? Must I use a special USB Cable? It worked in past.
Regards, Tomsma

I searched and read all information. Also I tried all information. I switched off the firewal, the virus sanner and so on.
But I have the same trouble also on another PC with XP SP3 and my Laptop with XP SP3. The Device is not recognized.
Please could somebody answer these questions:
==> Is the needed USB Cable a standard cable, which also should work e.g. with another mass storage device? Or is it an special pronto cable? I am not pretty sure, that I am using the original. But my cables (5 different cables) are still working very well with another USB Devices.
==> If I only connect ( no software is started) the remote - should something happen? A "connect USB"-jingle - which normaly plays, if I connect my usb storage device?
Kind regards,
tomsma

The cable is a normal USB cable.
When attaching the pronto, windows XP normally installes an USB storage device. New hardware found.....etc

usb cable is a standard format A to Mini usb, most camera's use them.
with no software running, if you plugin the TSU (and the TSU is in sleep mode) it will just wake it up, but thats all.
can you do a firmware update?
on the XP PC, make sure there is no booth active. if you right click on "My computer" and click on Manage you should see the pronto as a mass storage device.
Are you useing latest software? if all these fail, take it back to where you purchsed it from, and get a replacement.

Thanks for the answers! I am using the latest software and no, I cannot do a firmware - also device not found. There is also no device listed in any Windows XP or Vista.
I afraid a defect on the TSU. I am living in europe and bought it in US, because in europe the cost are 1250€ - in US the cost are 550 € with foreign custom 650 €.
So I am in trouble I guess. :(

If you have bluetooth keyboard or mouse try disabling them from the Device Manager. This also applies for any other Human Interface Devices (HID) that you might have installed.

Did you maybe damage the USB connector of the TSU? If you look inside the connector you should see 5 copper springs well alligned. If this is not the case (and one of them is bent or broken) you probably found the root cause of the problem.

There is no Bluetooth Keyboard or Mouse attached. I disabled all HID Devices in control manager.
And the USB Connector looks very well. I used also the Cradles USB Connector.

By chance, did you plug the remote into the PC BEFORE installing the software?

Yes I did. On every PC I tested. Is this a failure? Can I fix it?

Yes, I tried both USB connectors - nothing happens on each of them. It sounds, that the USB Controller is damaged. But I cannot believe it.
I tried to open the device - but I did not found any Guide for disassambling. I am an electronic professional ( I am not sure how it is named in english). So I would check for any cold junction. Because it is not comman, that such controller is blown.

I have had the same problem, I did the same things as yourself but when I tried to do a firmware update the remote would just do nothing but as soon as I disconnected the USB cable the remote recognised the disconnection and would go to normal operation therefore there was some sort of communication over the USB.
As I had replaced both my television and satellite receiver the remote was next to useless.
About a month I returned to have another look at the remote and the battery was flat, I placed it in the cradle which was connected to the computer but without power yet and the computer beeped as it recognised the remote and as soon as I connected the power and the remote booted up I have been able to connect every time to the remote.
I hope you will have a similar experience where it will start working again.
