I am running lastest version of PEP 2 on a 64 bit PC with no problems. When I connect 9400 to PC you hear the usb connect sound but PEP 2 can't find HID. Any suggestions?

Did you search for last 6 months to 1 year for posts on Vista?

Let me guess - you have a wireless keyboard and mouse setup?

Connect a wired mouse and go through the control panel to the device manager - expand the HID's and disable them one by one trying to connect to the pronto each time and you should come across the HID causing the conflict - worked for me all be it in Vista 32bit

Each time I need to download I have to disable the wireless set up and use the wired mouse - pain in the ar** but it works

PS don't bother contacting Philips support as I've tried that too many times

I agree with Calston about the likely nature of the problem and, as Lyndel says, there are a number of previous threads on the issue.

However:

a. My experience is that if you disable the right HIDs, you can still use your wireless stuff. Each wireless device seems to create two HIDs. Disabling either will allow the downloads to happen. Whilst disabling one will also stop the wireless stuff working, disabling the other instead will allow the wireless stuff to continue.

b. According to Barry Gordon, the problem may well lie with Microsoft rather than with Philips.

In the end game the problem is Microsofts. The OS must protect itself and work properly all the time.

I will permit them (MS) one out. If the device causing the problem has its own driver that was loaded by the machine owner and that driver was not MS certified then . . .

Even in that case I still put blame on MS for allowing such a hole to exist in the OS

I had to disable 6 HIDs in order to get the 9400 to download. Each one of the 6 by itself caused a download problem. The bluetooth mouse is still active and I am not sure what some of the HIDs are. Thanks for your help.
