Sorry, I'm sure this is a very basic question. I have the ir codes for a device. If I go to the database for that device and I create a new command should I just enter the binary string into the data area? The reason for the confusion is that the binary strings I have for the commands on this device are very short, only a few 0 and 1s. There is no "header" like the "500" (or whatever) I've seen in other codes.

thx

No, that will likely not work. You should attempt to learn the remote or use MakeHex to generate Pronto Hex IR data based on the protocol, device, and functions you need. Once you have the Pronto Hex data, you can post it into the data window.

Also, keeping us in the dark does not allow us to provide more info/better direction. What is the equipment you are trying to supply codes for? Knowing this would likely give us a bit more info to point you in the best direction. :) For sure, it would help John Fine out as he knows pretty much which devices use what protocols and I'm sure he has an .irp file for MakeHex. If not, he can tell you how to create one such that you get the codes you need in one-fell swoop.

Lyndel,

It's for a Lumagen Radiance XD video processor which I will be installing into my system this weekend. I don't have the device yet so I can't test anything but I wanted to try to have the codes set up in my pronto project in advance.

I have downloaded a ccf file from the Lumagen site but it does not have any code for one of the buttons I need. The manaul provides the code I need but, as I mentioned before, it is just a hex/binary and it did seem I would need something more to program the pronto.

Thanks.

PS I took a look at the xcf with a Lumagen in it from the files section but the Lumagen page doesn't have commands attached to any of the buttons!

If you could post a link to the file you downloaded, maybe we could have a look and help.

The file from Lumagen is:[Link: lumagen.com]

What I'm trying to do is pretty basic. I want to set up a button to go directly to each input. To do this on the Lumagen remote you have to push "input" first and then a number corresponding to the input. The Lumagen file (ccf) seems to have buttons for each input but I cannot see any code attached them. I did not see this code when I opened it in PEP1 or when I saved the file as an xcf so I could see it in PEP2.

The manual provides an ir code for the "input" button but, as mentioned, it is only the ir/hex code not all the other information I need to put it into my xcf file.

Hi Jack D,

I downloaded the file from Lumagen and had no problem Importing the CCF file into PEP1 with all codes.
I did look at the Hex Strings and most of them have multiple repeats in them and are not clean Hex Strings.
There is a file in the File Section that has all the codes you need that has been generated with Makehex so they will be clean Hex Strings and be more reliable.

I know this is a different model to yours but they are the same Codes.

Thanks. I had been searching in the pronto pro file area which is why I didn't see this one. I will see if I can get the codes from this ccf file when I get in front of my home computer. I must be doing something wrong not to see the codes. I just open PEP1 and select import a ccf file then select the ccf. I see the butttons and I select "properties" but often I dont' see the codes. Anyway, I'll give this file a try tonight. thanks.

OK. So I see the codes in the Lumagen ccf file created from make hex. I imported this ccf into PEP1 and can save it as an xcf file so I can open it in PEP2 where my projet is.

So how exactly do I get those codes into my project. For example, to select imput 1 on the Lumagen I see a button and the code is "12." I want to be able to copy that code into the Lumagen device that I created in my database. I can create a new command called input 1 but clearly the "12" is not all I need.

Thanks for any help.

Use PEPv1 to create a myDatabase and then use that database with PEPv2 to add your codes. I hope this will work.

Lyndel,

I didn't try your suggestion although I will when I get around to it just to see if it works. Instead, I connected my Radiance to the RFX9600 via serial and created a Radiance RS232 device in MyDatabase. The serial codes are much more simple to work with in the case of both my Radiance and Meridian processor. They are only one or two ASCII entries long. In the case of the R you don't even have to add a carriage return.

Now that I've got these devices hooked up and working via serial, I've got to get some prontoscripts working with them! The M echos all its commands so I guess I just need to figure how to do a global script and then attach codes to indiviual buttons. I think it's the same for the R.

thanks.

Remember there ARE NO GLOBAL SCRIPTS. You will be pasting code into each activity or you might do as others have done where you put the code into a Panel Label (as long as it is less than 32KB) and then use eval(CF.widget(...).label) from Activity Script to create your classes, common functions, etc..

This has been discussed before so search for +panel +label +eval for last 2 years and I'm sure you'll find some hits to clear up any questions you might have.

Also see the "so you think... " PEPV2 sticky thread about setting the font on these 'Script' labels to something other than 0/None/FONT_NONE.

Lyndel,
Sorry I don't think I was being precise with language since I still have very little idea what I'm talking about when it comes to prontoscript. I've been looking at some other peoples' scripts and it looks like for one activity there is a "global script" that seems to set up all the two way interaction, a parameters page, and then individual scripts on various buttons. It seems that the more complicated part is that "global" script. The individual button scripts seem pretty concise and almost obvious but maybe I misunderstand since I'm such a noob.
