Discard my last post: it's been answered in another thread. Thanks Don!

Either one sounds cool, although the idea of PULSING
bands of Tron-like accents made me suddenly wish
Total Remote had support for animation or color
cycling. ;)

Animation would be interesting, but considering it might slow performance on the 200Mhz models like mine I'm happy with static graphics for now.

I tried an RCA Kameleon once. It was interesting, but I did return it because it simply used too much juice to be "friendly." RCA and some others should treat such power hungry mosters like cordless phones, digital cameras or PDAs and include a durable, transduction-based, recharging pad/coaster (just in case a clueless friend comes over and puts his/her coffee on it).

You buy an iTrip at CompUSA, decide that "it
doesn't work right" which really means you can't
use an FM transmitter in your particular situation
(no opens bands like in LA/NY, electrical noise
from power lines conducted into the RF signal,
you have a crappy radio with a broken antenna
but it pick up the local 100,000 watt radio station
"just fine!", etc.) so you return it, and CompUSA
sends it back to us with no explanation why, and
for FULL credit.

I did this with a cheapie, generic FM transmitter/lighter socket charger for my Delphi XM radio. It was obviously way below the quality of the iTrip and wouldn't even work in the woods of NH. FM transmission is definitely a toughie. I once had a Toshiba transmitter that worked flawlessly and was tiny for the time.

Unfortunately, it's lost to a few moves or given to an ex-girlfriend (not sure which). Its buddies (an old Aiwa (nice durable metal) portable cassette deck, Sony Watchman, Casio credit card FM radio, and some other 80's design antiques) are still in the box where it used to reside. They're great for inspiration. The Aiwa portable products back then were incredibly solid, unlike today.

As an aside I would note that _I_ think it is
easier to work "on the device" with Total Remote's
native mode for taking a skin and adding IR codes
and macro functions than working "offline" with
a damn CCF editor. I _could_ be biased. :)

Now if a TR profile could be authored in, tested in, and transferred from something like this http://www.flipstart.com/ that would kick. It'd be tricky, but that device would run Fireworks and Photoshop without a hitch. Heck, it'll run 3D Studio. It's more powerful than my current laptop (still use a shuttle XPC for 3D portability).

I've been crunched with work, but will get to those TR skins shortly.

Cheers!

In regards to the iPAQ 4150 and Total Remote:

Do tell... I can't get this thing to work at all. I have the 4150 and the booster sold by griffin does nothing. Any help would be appreciated!

The built in ir transmitter works from a few feet away, however this is not desireable...

Thanks!

Don,

The mini iTrip for the iPod Mini is very slick! Who does the design on your products or is it all in house?

Unfortunately, I can't bring myself to purchase any iPod. I need to start looking at them like fine watches as opposed to typical "disposable" consumer electronics.

I'll do a little searching, but how well does TR do in the Dell X30. It looks like landscape mode would make their headphone jack useful for the TR, but a new skin would have to be made to handle the landscape mode. Have you been working on the switching for TR?

Don, are you reading this? Why's is it so? Any idea? Can't help but feel frustrated even if I haven't tried it on mine. :(

Aaah! So glad to hear that! Can't wait for the package to arrive so I can find out for myself. Any tips and tricks I can take note of so I can maximize the use of my TR? Thanks in advance! :)

Hi

2 questions:

Could anyone,(Don !?), tell me if the griffin device would improve the Axim x5 throw. I read at the Griffin site that the range wouldn't pass 10 ft, am I right? But is that assuming the X5 would use is own IR port or is it improved (even for a bit!) with the Griffin IR audio device (Sorry, I don't know how to call it - I do like it though!)?

Is there any compability, in this latest versions, with the others IR CF card extenders known by us, and Total Remote 2?

As you could understand by now, I've a X5 and want to use it as a remote. Don't need mutch more than 14 ft. But need to know if I can go the TR2 way or not?

Thanxs in advance for any answer

Andre

Can anyone recommend a decent editor for creating Total Remote skins? I'd really like to be able to create 3D buttons etc..

Will dl it right away...
Wish someone at TR (or PDAWIN, but they're probably lying on some rock with a spell on them) would think about the repetition problem...
Tap pen's getting blunt...

Just got my TR package and it works great with my iPAQ 4150! Funny though, the preset for Panasonic Tv #3 (the one I won and tested the demo on) works with irda but doesn't when I switch to the audio transmitter module. But otherwise, I'm cool with the product. Just hope I don't encounter anymore trouble. Cool product!

Would you select the Dell Axim x3i (great IR) or the Toshiba e800 (for the potential VGA) to use with Total Remote? How do they compare for IR?

Anyone here encountered hanging problems with TR2? I noticed, on some occassions, that when I choose my "active devices", when I expand on the TV or the DVD categories, my program hangs. I go through a series of soft resets and after doing so, it works normally again. Is this a bug? Help please!

yes you're not alone on this one. I've had the same hangups too. Hope it's fixed in new version.
