Hi all,

Just wondering if it is possible to program scheduled reboots or manually triggered reboots within SIMPL? I know you can do program resets but unfortunately I need a proper system reboot.

Having an issue with some DM receivers dropping offline occasionally. The receivers still pass video and show DM Link, but they appear as offline on the IP table.

Program reboots dont fix it. But if i reboot the receiver via console, they come back every time. Would be good to give IT Services at the university the ability to reboot the system (or ideally just the DM receiver) via Fusion RV. Its not necessarily the controller than needs rebooting but moreso the DM endpoint.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Scott

Instead of doing that why not investigate what is wrong with your network that is causing the issue?

Theyre running on direct link Cat6A shielded cable. Its a crestron issue, not a network issue. Crestron havent been able to help.

And what about the connection between the DM and the processor?

Have you checked RSTP, its possible to create loops by mistake.

Handling this issue by scheduled reboots is absolutely not the way to "solve" this issue.
Crestron will indeed help, I can't imagine what the problem there is.  Ask to escalate the issue.  How are you handling IP addressing with the DM?  You said "University" so what does that network look like?  How is it isolated/partitioned/subnetted?  What firmware is on the DM, cards, and receivers?  How large of a DM system is this?  What processor is controlling the DM?

We've installed over 100 systems so far. Most are using DMPS processors with 1,2 or sometimes 3 RMC100 endpoints which are using a direct Cat6a shielded cable for connection to DMPS. Processor is in private network mode.

We have our own AV Vlan which spans several subnets.

All units are on latest firmware although with the quantity of units we have, there's probably a few that need updating.

Once every 3 maybe 4 months I get a call to say a display won't turn on in one of the rooms. Everything works fine but no control to display. Rmc shows as offline but I can connect to it fine in console. Reboot. Fixed.

Its a rare issue. The only reason I asked was because the head of IT services has asked if he can remotely reboot systems if need be and given that I'm implementing fusion at the moment, I was hoping it was possible. 2 birds one stone.

It's electronics guys. Sometimes funny things happen with electronics. It's really not worth pullling multi million dollar network apart for a random glitch in an RMC.

Thanks for the help anyway though.

Understood.

Whatever you can do from the console, can be done from within SIMPL.
You need to TCP/IP client into the system rcon to the appropriate slot and and send the reboot command.

Yeah that's what I ended up doing. Works a treat on the larger systems using DMPS units or DM matrices but unfortunately I can't get it to work on the smaller systems using mpc-m5 controllers with tx-201 and Rmc-200. Cheers.
