Handling this issue by scheduled reboots is absolutely not the way to "solve" this issue.
Crestron will indeed help, I can't imagine what the problem there is. Ask to escalate the issue. How are you handling IP addressing with the DM? You said "University" so what does that network look like? How is it isolated/partitioned/subnetted? What firmware is on the DM, cards, and receivers? How large of a DM system is this? What processor is controlling the DM?
