I'm getting a new MX-980 and am in the process of mapping out my ideal configuration.

I'm leaning towards installing "Favs" and "Main" as my two keycaps. However, I have some concerns.

Is it possible to program the "Main" button (i.e. what is typically the "WATCH" button) to jump immediately to page 1 of my "Watch Cable" device/activity when pressed while the user is on any of the "Favs" pages?

Or is that button hard coded to jump directly to page 1 of my "Main" activities page? (i.e. the page with my "Watch Cable", "Listen to iPod", "Media Center", "Watch DVD" LCD buttons)

Ideally I would like the end user to be able to be in "watching cable" mode and hit the "Favs" button.... they mess around in there, page through the favorite presets, and then settle on a channel. Then, they hit the "Main" hard button which immediately brings them back to page 1 of the "Watch Cable" activity group (with the "page up", "page down", "A", "B", "C" etc. buttons).

If the user has to hit the Main button and then hit the "Watch Cable" LCD button (which will then fire off my "Watch Cable" macro) then I would prefer not to go this route.

Any thoughts/advice on this would be appreciated. Thanks

Double click on the MX-980 in the botttom tree section Model Designer. Make sure your properties is checked. Simply check the box that indicates "User Defined HardKey/Page+/-/Listen, Watch" in the properties box. Understand that you will have to also program the page +/- keys now or they will not do anything. There are other settings on this properties box also.

All in the user manual.

You could also have one of the icons on the favorites screen programmed to take you exactly where you want to go as well. Have 7 favs on each page and the 8th takes them to whatever you want.

I usually just put my favs either on page two of my watch activity or just put a favs button on the watch screen, that makes it easy to get back to the main page of the watch activity.

Thanks for the assistance, Vincent. It is greatly appreciated. This makes perfect sense.

For the life of me I cannot find reference to this properties box in the CCP documentation. I've searched the PDF for "properties", "hardkey" and "user defined" as well as visually searching the programming manual. Are there several versions of the CCP programming manual? Maybe I have an older edition that doesn't cover this feature.

Ranger Home, your idea is interesting as well and I had considered doing this, but I would rather not give up that one extra LCD button on every page. I could also assign a page jump the the "EXIT" hard button, but I want the user to have full control of the cable box when they're in the FAVS section.

I wish the 980 had a dedicated FAVS button that behaved like the one on the 880. :)

I know this is an old thread but after having my 880 die and getting my hands on a 980 as a replacement I can only say "Amen brother!" :-)
