Same problem, no response from Touchscreen but hard buttons work fine (very annoyed as I'd just bought a replacement as the last two screens were smashed when dropped).

Felt a bit suspicious about the pin method, so just pushed hard on the contacts with a hard fingernail!

But probably more importantly, I found the ring of gunk around the edge of the plastic cover was quite sticky and had lots of dust embedded - and it's been unusually wet and humid lately.....

Once I cleaned this and put it all back together (the screen didn't seem to work until the top face was screwed back on tightly), now EVERYTHING WORKS!!!!
