I've had this issue with several remotes in the past.
I received the following procedure from a Tier 2 tech.
It has worked for me in most every case. I hope it works
for you.
3. Remote Safe Mode Firmware - Take the battery out of
the remote, hold down
the "Off" button and plug USB cable in. When "Safe Mode
Requested"
appears on the screen, let go of "Off"
I also had issues and just wanted to add the following comment that a tier 2 tech made. Once you have a setup fail you should always try following ones in safe mode. So if you try changing network settings etc. etc. it's perhaps a better bet to keep it in safe mode whilst doing so.
