I got my 880 shortly after it came out and regularly had charging issues. I finally found a simple fix to the problem. I had some rubber black adhesive spacers that were designed to be applied to the bottom of some of my speakers (similar to rubber stops for cabinet doors, which could probably also be used). I placed them on the bottom rear part of the remote base, which created a slight slope down to the charging contacts. This allowed the weight of the remote to make better contact every time. It also looks just fine on the base, it added only 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch to the rear of the base. Note there are already some rubber pads on the base and I placed mine just in front of those.
