Not bashing the 880 - I love mine.... only 2 weeks old.
I was just wondering how many people are actually having problems with charging there 880. Mine started this when it was only 2 days old. I always have to jiggle it in cradle to make a contact. Today I noticed after all night being in cradle it only showed 2 bars when I picked it up??? When I put it back in cradle it shows 3 bars - full charge ??? Any ideas? Anyone else noticing this ?
Thanks, Larry

Mine is Perfect.. Charges as soon as its on the cradle, no need to adjust and charges after the glow button is pressed to turn off the slideshow.

I haven't had any issues with charging the remote, only that I have to be careful when pressing the glow button while on the cradle

I am - twice in a row. My original from BB had that problem and I returned it about a week ago. My replacement now has the same issue. It's very annoying.

My 880 doesn't sit too well in the cradle - it requires a steady hand to get it just right. Usually if I put it in the cradle and then slide it down, it beeps and charging begins (although it sometimes takes a few times to get it just right).
This seems like a minor design flaw; or perhaps the springs in the contacts are not strong enough??

if I just drop it casually in it works. However if I make one slight movement while it's in there it doesn't charge. They should have made the base contacts larger to account for movement.

FWIW, I swabbed the charging contacts with alcohol and it works great for about a week then gets flaky again. I wonder if the charging contacts are oxidizing because of a cheap metal being used? Of course it could just be dust accumulating in the cradle too. Poor design in my opinion - especially for the $$$ spent. Otherwise I really like the 880.

I had the same charging problem since the second day I've owned mine, just got a replacement this morning. No problems just yet. However I think thats a major design for the the amount of money.

Just bought my 880 yesterday.
Spent two minutes jiggling the remote in the cradle until it finally said "on base."
Should this be something I should be concerned about?
I paid an extra $40 for the Best Buy 2-year protection. This means in the next 2 years I can return it for any reason for exchange.
What I am saying is that I can put up with this for quite a while longer, and if they put out a revision in the future I can simply trade my remote into Best Buy and get a replacement.
In the meantime, this is a serious design flaw and I'm wondering if anything can be done about it now.

When the remote is on the cradle it is sensitive. I got 2 hours of charging on my first day, which was Thursday. As soon as I started using my remote it stopped charging even though it was in the cradle. But, I'm thinking it has a smart charge that doesn't begin charging unless it needs to. I wrote the customer service on my Friday about my initial charge. They said if my battery has problems to contact them again. I have put it back on the cradle and it has not started charging since Thursday. So I'm thinking smart charge technology or something. Just so you know, as soon as I drop it in the cradle it starts the slide show. So it knows it's in the cradle. I'm not really too concerned at this point.

When you hit the glow button while on the cradle the remote will stop the slideshow but continue charging. This is good for people that would like to preserve the life of the lcd longer.
Some people have been complaining that when they hit the glow button the slideshow turns off and the remote stops charging.
I assume this is due to the same flaw, in that when you touch the remote it loses contact with the charging points.

Well, mine was fine until tonight. Down to one bar, and I can't get it to start charging no matter what I do. I'm going to just leave it for now, but if it hasn't charged, Logitech will be hearing from an irate customer tomorrow morning.

People with charging problems should post if they heard "one beep" or "two beeps" when they set the unit in the charging cradle. From my own experience, you may have one beep and then by accident move the remote enough to cause two beeps which means the unit is not in contact anymore for charging.
