Chuck Miller was very helpful with figuring this out. He even tested with an MX900 remote and MRF350 and confirmed that it works flawlessly. Apparently the S302 somehow got into demo mode which will cause the 0db level with the play command. I believe the documentation was a little incorrect about how to initialize the unit after the firmware update. So I must still be on the old firmware which may be why the codes are sporadic. I'm going back out to the job site next week with a little more documentation and knowledge about this product so hopefully I won't have any issues with the codes after I've initialized the new firmware.
