I’m in southern Oregon and last week one of the local fires wiped out 2 1/2 towns. The smoke in the area here is listed as hazardous. It’s been Smokey most summers for the last 15 years or so, it’s kind of like new season. We have the usual 4 and end of summer is shortened to add in smoke season.
The alameda fire as they are calling it took out 2300 +/- structures.
I was at the south end of the valley when it started and tried to get out before roads closed but didn’t get close, so had to go up over the pass around the mountain lakes and back down. My usual 12 miles drive turned into a 80 miles drive and 5 hours.
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.
