The bit about cutting the stucco points out that a lot, if not most, "doorbell" installations start as a small push button, not a j-box. Metal gates, for instance, are much more amenable to surface mount devices.
Will there be a surface mount version? Will this fit into a standard single gang surface mount outdoor box? I have a client who has a Doorbird and we're both waiting for something that works better.
