I have my rotary hammer, Jackhammer attachment and mortar ready for this guy! :P

Looking forward to trying it out. My house didnt have a doorbell so I installed one and ran cat6 to my panel from that location. Will just have to jackhammer out for the single gang box and hope I dont hit the wire!

Where do things stand with the Clare Controls piece?

Still testing. Right now it's connected to the office wifi.

I haven't been at the office lately though.

The bit about cutting the stucco points out that a lot, if not most, "doorbell" installations start as a small push button, not a j-box. Metal gates, for instance, are much more amenable to surface mount devices.

Will there be a surface mount version? Will this fit into a standard single gang surface mount outdoor box? I have a client who has a Doorbird and we're both waiting for something that works better.

Thanks.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

The elite is a standard 1 gang. It's not really meant for retro in most cases.. tons of new homes have a 1 gang ring put in at home building. As mentioned the other products are all surface mount

It comes with face plates. Its not metal bronze but a nice flat brown.

We currently support Events IE ring and motion on C4 but bringing it to other platforms very soon as well.

URC?

I've been pretty happy with the Ring Pro and have a few jobs roughed in for the Elite. BW's C4 driver works well and the trigger happens almost immediately. I just wish Ring offered a way to release a strike through the app. The floodlight cams make for a super easy add-on if they have existing motion lights. Looks like the Elite is available on the Ring site now. Hopefully they'll make it to distribution soon!

I got an email that 2N finally released the smaller, 1 module high, version of the Helios. Looks much better suited to residential. Hopefully they offer it in black, like the full size unit.

How are you all using the ring pro? What I mean if the customer has his cellphone or tablet in another room or they run out of battery - how can he hear the doorbell? Even if the ring pro has a relay and trigger an internal generic doorbell you still need to find your tablet/phone and switch to the app to view who is at the door. Also can the ring pro open the door (i.e is there a relay?)

I have always been used to video doorbells/intercoms that require a few indoor units (mainly cheap touchscreens) where the indoor units are always available "on the wall" and allow you very easily to view who is at the door and also open the door.

So how can the ring pro substitute this?

Doorbird has worked swimmingly for us. Video intercom to touch screens works well. App works great. Cinegration driver works great.
I love supporting product that supports me!

The Ring doorbells can still ring the old doorbell chime and you can also add wifi chimes from Ring as well. The only relay is for the chime. There is no door trigger relay. Also this is a HUGE HUGE HUGE security risk. I dont know what everyone is obsessed with this. If i can break open your door station and touch 2 wires together and unlock a door that is not great security.

If you want cheap tablets then get the Nuvo android poe touch screen and install the ring app on all of them.

FYI, the Clare Video Doorbell has been working well for us and we have around 10 in the field right now. And we no complaints from clients. It uses the Clarevision Plus app and no router settings need to be done.

They connect via 2.4 ghz wifi and use the existing doorbell power wire. So it's a great retro fit device.

The box comes with decent instructions and a resistor in case it's needed for some doorbells. It also comes with 4 different colored covers.

I am haven't installed the Ring before so, I can't compare the 2
