I can't believe I didn't think about this. Putting a transmitter on the AVR, and put the Receiver on the input of the AVR. Then the Receiver at the TV could select inputs, as well as the receiver. Same amount of parts, but I feel like this is a better solution. I just used the JAP as a point to point 4k connection.
Just did this the other day on a new install with an Atlona switcher. HDBT out to Sony TV, mirrored HDMI out to Receiver input for audio.
i added a HDMI to receiver output to the switcher and used the front panel to select it on the Sony. Now I had the onscreen available in the room for speaker and config setup.
Worked wonderful.
