I have never taken hand-held remotes doubling as IR learners. If you want to learn an IR code correctly you need a dedicated learning device. You are better off using one and cutting and pasting hex codes into the CCP software than you are learning the codes in.
If they don't work well enough, the manufacturers should remove this from their remotes.
They shouldn't make us waste our time grabbing codes.
