Setting up a BenQ projo and trying to program the MX780 using CCP. I am able to learn and use all the required buttons from the BenQ remote other than Power ON. I have tried using both CCP and Crestron learning. With Crestron I am able to test the command and it works through my learner however when I try and test the command using CCP I get no response from the projector.

I did a BenQ with Pro Control and used their generic BenQ IR file and it worked perfectly. If you have access to RTi software you could copy and paste the hex codes into CCP......

I first tried the Benq codes in CCP with no luck. Then tried learning the remote (it has both power on and off) and all but Power On work properly. When I learn Power On it says that it learned Okay like all the other codes.

I had my Crestron learner with me so I figured I would try with it. Was able to learn the power on command into toolbox and test the command and it worked.

I then tried learning the power on command from toolbox into CCP and still unable to turn on the projector.

I have even tried testing the learned command in CCP and not getting any response from the projector.

The other issue I have is that CCP won't update on my computer so I'm not sure if that may have something to do with this as well, but seeing as I was able to successfully learn all other projector commands leads me to believe it has nothing to do with the version of CCP I'm running.

Update*

Went to site yesterday in hopes I could get this working. Tried leaning the Power On code from the OEM remote and adjust the repeats, no luck.

Found some Hex codes online and tried copying them into CCP, No luck.

Tech support suggested that I try the commands on a different button, No luck.

I have reached out to BenQ for their Hex codes and was told that I should receive them soon (that was yesterday around 3pm) and still haven't got them.

Anyone have any other options I can try to get the Power On command learn onto the remote?

Tech support suggested I switch to 232 using an MX780 and MRF-350. Not sure how I am to do that but that was their last suggestion they could provide.

Create a new account and add something to the name, so you know it's just for this problem. I usually use the client's name and add 'test'.

Add only the projector and update the remote, then try the commands. This has worked for all of the MX-780 problems I have ever had. If it works, add the rest of the devices and map the buttons, as needed.

Why are you using the Crestron learner- the 780 has a window at one end for this.

Just for testing purposes. I wanted to see if it was the actual Power On command from the OEM remote that was the issue or something with the MX780. The Crestron learner has an IR output so I learned the Power on code into the Crestron software and tested the code and it worked so I knew it wasn't the OEM remote code that was the issue. I also thought that it may have been an issue with the OEM remote learning onto the MX780 so I tried learning from the Crestron IR Learner as well.

You're not using the test function in CCP?

Yes but the code would not work. Thinking that it was the code that wasn't learning properly I tried learning to the Crestron software and tested, and it worked so I knew that the IR code from the OEM remote was learning properly to Crestron, so should be learning properly to the 780.

Here's a Power On command from Pro Control that we've used successfully on a couple BenQ projectors. Give it a try.

I have never taken hand-held remotes doubling as IR learners. If you want to learn an IR code correctly you need a dedicated learning device. You are better off using one and cutting and pasting hex codes into the CCP software than you are learning the codes in.
