Aren't Triads mid to high end? Clipping that Onkyo is the death of it plus the speakers that get clipped audio. You certainly know what clipped audio does to tweeters. Get him a ton of clean power. You stand a chance of keeping the Triads happy. Run any AVR into clipping... nah, you are dead.
The Onkyo even has preamp outs...
