We recently installed a 6 transmitter - 6 receiver system. Picture quality was ok. Not quite true 1080i but OK.

The main problem we had and are still having is controlling the receivers. The receivers have an IR input but you must use the IR receiver that comes with the receiver and attach an IR emitter to it. On the website Metra has the hex codes for the IR codes. We copied and pasted those codes into the Total Control system that we were using in the house. The problem is it did not work consistently. To change channels, such as 65, you must first enter a 6 then a 5. Wait 5 seconds and the channels change. If either the 6 or the 5 was not accepted it went to either channel 6 or channel 5 and displayed a message of "No Signal". This would happen about 20% of the time.

We then tried to learn the codes from the supplied remote to the Total Control. This seems to work better than using the supplied codes but it is still not rock solid. Right now it is working 90-95% of the time. So I am going back again to relearn a few of the buttons.

It would be great if it was possible to send the ir signal for the Total Control system directly into the receiver instead of using the IR receiver and attaching an ir emitter.

Brett, is there a way to go direct in with IR instead of using the receiver?
