What's new for Thursday October 5, 2000...

Seeing the invisible: We have a brand new feature section for this week – an infrared emitter comparison. Twelve remote controls are covered, each with photographs of the patterns their infrared emitters produce. It may not be scientific, but it’s still quite interesting to see the different designs used by various manufacturers. Since we have no way to make exact measurements regarding distance and usable angles, you will have to draw your own conclusions. Check it out!

Have a Pronto question? We’ve got answers: Our Unofficial Pronto/RC5000 FAQ has been updated to version 1.07d, with new questions and answers. If you own one of these remote controls this is an invaluable resource, from providing tips and tricks for programming your remote, to answering any hardware concerns. Since this document is created to answer the questions you, the user, have, we welcome any requests for additions. Always look here first for solutions!

Pronto/RC5000 file area update: OK, this one was requested a long, long time ago, but until tonight I never actually figured out how to do it. Due to the database’s date format, picking out the most recent component CCF file additions to place on a separate page had seemed an impossible goal – but I finally worked something out, and the results can be seen here. With over 1900 entries in the database, I really felt this new page was needed. Let me know what you think.
