To configure a preset code: Press [SET]. All Component Select buttons will flash. Press the button you want to configure. Enter in the three-digit component code from the code table, followed by [ENT].

Using the code search function: Press [SET]. All Component Select buttons will flash. Press the button you want to configure. Press [CH+] or [CH-] and [POWER] in turn until the component turns on or off, then press [ENT] to save.

To learn signals on user buttons: Press and hold [SET] until the green indicator lights. All Component Select buttons will flash. Select the component you would like to learn a signal to, then select the button you want to learn on. Aim the RM-VL700 and original remote head to head and press and hold the original button until the green indicator and Component button light up again. If a signal has already been programmed on a button the green indicator will flash twice; you must first reset the button. Note that you cannot teach to double-buttons, such as [REC] + [PLAY], [INPUT] + [1], etc.

To clear a learned signal from a user button: Press and hold [SET] until the green indicator lights. All Component Select buttons will flash. While holding the desired Component Select button, press the button you want to clear.

To learn signals on Component Select buttons: Press and hold [SET] until the green indicator lights. All Component Select buttons will flash. Press and hold the Component Select button you want to learn on for three signals until all component buttons light up. When you release the component button the green indicator will begin blinking rapidly. If a signal has already been programmed on a button the green indicator will flash twice; you must first reset the button. Aim the RM-VL700 and original remote head to head and press and hold the original button until all component buttons light up again.

To clear a learned signal from a Component Select button: While holding [SET], press the Component Select button you want to clear.

To assign other components to the Component Select buttons: Press [SET]. All Component Select buttons will flash. Press the Component button you want to change. While holding [PLAY], press the number button (listed blow) that corresponds to the device you want to assign. Both the original Component button and the button corresponding to the new assignment will light. If the green indicator flashes twice you must first remove all learned signals.

To reset all functions for a Component: Press and hold [SET] until the green indicator lights. All Component Select buttons will flash. While holding [STOP], press the desired Component Select button.

Adding the Power On command to Component Select buttons for Sony devices: Press [SET]. All Component Select buttons will flash. While holding [POWER], press the desired Component Select button. While holding [POWER], buttons that have been configured to transmit the Power On function will light up. This function will not operate if a button has a learned signal already assigned, and is only available to components configured to control Sony devices.

To configure the audio passthrough: By default the RM-VL700 controls the TV’s volume for the TV, VCR, CBL/SAT and DVD buttons, and the receiver’s for Amp. To change this setting, press [SET]. All Component Select buttons will flash. While holding the [MUTING] button, press [VOL+] to control the amplifier’s volume under all components, or [VOL-] for the TV/amp combination. The Component Select buttons will light up indicating which devices are being controlled by the amplifier, either all or only audio.

To copy the settings of a Component Select button to another: Press [SET]. All Component Select buttons will flash. Press and hold the Component Select button you want to copy settings to. The selected Component button lights up and all other buttons flash rapidly. While continuing to hold that Component button, press the Component button you want to copy the configuration from.

To lock the remote: Press [POWER], [MUTING] and [RECALL] at the same time. The green indicator lights up when you press these buttons and turns off when you release them. When the remote is locked and a function key is pressed all Component Select buttons flash twice.

To unlock the remote: Press [POWER], [MUTING] and [RECALL] at the same time. The green indicator flashes twice and the Hold function is disabled.

To reset the entire remote to factory settings: Press [POWER], [TV/VIDEO] and [VOL-] until the remote reacts as follows: The green indicator and all Component Select buttons light up; then the Component buttons turn off one by one, followed by the green indicator. The remote is now restored to its default settings.
