Complete Control MX-900 “Genesis” Features:

All hard buttons: the MX-900 includes a total of 47 hard buttons, 42 of which may contain user programmable functions. Of the five non-programmable buttons, two select the [Listen] and [Watch] main menus, another two navigate through LCD pages, and the final one activates the backlighting.

LCD screen: A 2.5" diagonal LCD screen with 8 alphanumeric lines provides 7-character customizable names for the 6 adjacent hard buttons. The screen also displays the current device at the top and page number at the bottom.

Full backlighting: The MX-900’s LCD screen and all hard buttons are backlit by vibrant blue LEDs that can be adjusted between 8 different brightness levels.

Menu joystick: The MX-900 incorporates URC’s new-style 5-way menu cursor ring with a separate center [Select] button for quick and reliable cursor control.

USB interface: The remote features a standard Mini USB port for communication with a PC, and does not require a driver for operation.

RF capabilities: Through the optional MRF-250, MRF-260, MRF-300 and MRF-350 extenders, or the MSC-400 control system, the MX-900 can control infrared-based components off to the side, behind doors or even in other rooms, up to 100 feet away. Up to 16 extenders are supported by a single remote.

Narrow band RF: The MX-900 utilizes narrow band RF technology for improved communication reliability with the MRF-260, MRF-350 and MSC-400.

Full computer programmability: All programming for the MX-900 is done through the bundled Windows-based “MX-900 Editor” program.

Controls up to 252 devices: The Genesis can control any mix of devices and/or activities – you’re only limited by memory.

Up to 255 LCD pages per device: Each page can hold up to 6 commands corresponding to the adjacent hard buttons, making it possible to include as many as 1,564 commands under a single device.

Full learning: Every user-programmable hard button can hold a command learned from another remote. The software provides both single and double pulse learning options for reliable code captures. The maximum number of learned signals is limited only by memory.

Preprogrammed database: The MX-900 includes a huge database of preprogrammed codes for a wide variety of devices including audio, auxiliary, cable boxes, CD players, DVD players, DVRs, LD players, lighting systems, satellite receivers, tape decks, televisions, VCRs and WebTVs. Devices are selected via brand and code number dropdowns. In addition, many codes have been cross-referenced with applicable device and remote model numbers, and multiple preprogrammed codesets can be mixed in a single device. The database is upgradeable over the internet.

Editable labels: Each LCD-adjacent key can have a custom 7-character label. In addition to alphanumeric characters, several transport and directional icons are also available.

Nearly unlimited macros: Every hard button can hold a macro containing a nearly unlimited number of steps. Two types of macros are available for use: standard (macro runs instantly), plus press and hold (one of two macros runs depending on how long the key is held). Macros can also be assigned to automatically run whenever a device is selected.

User-editable variables: Programmers can define up to 8 custom variables that can be used to keep track of the operational state of different devices, which user is active, and so forth.

Punchthroughs: Groups of commands can be punched through to operate a different device, for example have all volume buttons operate a receiver. Punchthroughs are available for the two power keys, volume and mute, channel and jump, the nine menu related keys, seven transport keys, plus the numerical keypad.

Hide pages: In-device pages of commands can be hidden from normal view. Functions on these pages can still be referenced from other buttons or macros, or jumped to from a macro, making this an ideal way to hide advanced functions or screens.

Share files: The MX-900’s .MXG files can be easily shared amongst other owners.

Import files: Codes can be extracted from other remote control files. Supported formats include MXF and MXD files (MX-700, MX-800, MX-850), MXA files (MX-950), RCC files (MX-3000), MXT (TX-1000), MRF files (MRF-400) and CCF files (original Pronto).

Discrete device control via RF: When used with one or more of the optional RF extenders, each of the station’s wired IR ports can be individually addressed, permitting discrete control of identical components that would otherwise respond to each others commands.

Customizable timeouts: The LCD can be configured to shut off after 10 seconds through 20 minutes of inactivity, or remain on indefinitely. The backlight can be configured to shut off after 10 though 90 seconds, or disabled completely.

MSC-400 Master System Controller Features:

Narrow band RF: The MSC-400 includes the RFX-250 outboard RF sensor, which utilizes narrow band RF technology for improved communication reliability with the MX-810, MX-900, MX-950, TX-1000 and MX-3000. The RFX-250 can be placed up to 150 feet away from the MSC-400, and multiple RFX-250 units can be wired in parallel to improve RF coverage.

Sensor inputs: Up to 6 status sensors can be attached to the MSC-400. Available directly from URC are the VS100 voltage sensor and VID video sensor. Other third-party sensors can also be used (in conjunction with the VS100), such as current sensors, light sensors, audio sensors, RFI sensors and so forth.

Nearly unlimited onboard macros: Up to 32,640 macros with 255 steps each can be stored in the MSC-400’s internal memory. Since all macro commands are transmitted directly from the MSC-400, rather than from the remote, reliability is guaranteed.

If/Else & toggle programming: The MSC-400’s macros can contain any number of nested If/Else conditional statements, which are used to check sensor or variable states. In addition, toggle lists can be created which will transmit a different command each time the macro is sent.

User-editable variables: Programmers can define up to 255 custom variables that can be used to keep track of the operational state of different devices, which user is active, and so forth.

6 IR and 6 IR/RS232 ports: The MSC-400 supports up to 12 routable IR emitters. Six of these ports can optionally control RS232 equipment. All ports feature adjustable output strength.

Relay control: The MSC-400 features 2 relay controls with a single 12V power outlet.

Dual USB interfaces: The MSC-400 features one USB port on the front for configuration updating, and a second port on the back expressly for PC keyboard emulation.

Cascade systems: Up to two MSC-400 units can be combined into a single operational system, effectively doubling the number of controllable items (save for the loss of one IR/RS232 port on each unit used to link them together).

Versatile command capabilities: The MSC-400 includes an IR learning port on the front for quick infrared learning, plus preprogrammed code databases for both IR and RS232 devices. Commands can also be imported from other remote control configuration files.

Front-panel status: Conveniently located LEDs indicate system operation, USB connections and sensor status. Two LEDs on the RFX-250 indicate power and RF reception/interference.
