Hi gang!
I'm glad to find your website. Great idea! It's quiet confusing shopping for an universal remote.
Here's my devices: - Samsung UN60D6500VFXZC - Samsung BD-5500 - Harman-Kardon AVR-110 - Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4250HD (Cable receiver)
Here's my need: - 125$ or less - control all devices - because my receiver doesn't support HDMI, I need a macro to select first the sound channel and next, the right tv input
I looked over reviews on the site. Here's my thoughts: - logitech is not recommended - good rated models found seems quiet old: - One For All URC-9910 (Home Producer 8) - Home Theater Master MX-500 - Sony RM-VL900 - Radio Shack 15-1994
Can anyone give me a way to find the best remote for my needs?
Thanks a lot,
Asimov

Two excellent remotes can handle your equipment, and do macros. The older remotes you mentioned won't be able to control the BluRay player. RCA RCRP05B <$20 at Best Buy, Walgreens, Sears, etc. Sony RM VLZ620 <$25 The RCA is highly programmable using "keymoves". If the remote doesn't have a function built in (say discrete on/off, e.g.) you can manually enter in a 5 digit EFC to assign the function to a button.
Samsung UN60D6500VFXZC TV 0702 or 0812 (nearly the same) Samsung BD-5500 Video 0199 Harman-Kardon AVR-110 Audio 1304 or 1306 Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4250HD (Cable receiver) Cable 1877
The Sony remote will have 5 digit setup codes, but the last 4 digits will match the above setup codes.

Sorry 3FG for the delay of my answer, I was out of town for a while. I wanted to thank you for the time you took to answer me. I really appreciated.
I will look for the suggested remotes.
I have to more questions: 1- With the RCA RCRP05B and the Sony RM VLZ620, is it possible to control the sound of the Harman Kardon matter the device selected? For example, the remote control the Blu-ray but the volume button passes the info to Harman Kardon.
2- Are buttons of those models backlit?
If an answer is no, do you have another suggestion?
Thanks again 3FG,
Asimov

1) This feature is called Volume Punch Through, and both remotes have this capability. (Many universal remotes have VPT).
2) Neither is backlit.
The two remotes I suggested have an interface connector in the battery compartment, and some enthusiasts have catalogued the capabilities of the remotes. So I know that these remotes can control each of your devices without learning.
If you have the original remotes, and don't need to add any additional functions, then the URC WR7 may work for you. It is backlit and if it doesn't have a built in setup code for all of your components, it will be able to learn from your original remotes. It does have VPT.
