My Beloved remote (RTi -2t) has bit the dust. We have a 95 pound eight month old puppy that decided it made a great chew toy. It survived the first two rounds but lost the third.

I truly need some help finding a suitable replacement remote. The equipment is under the tv inside a cabinet with screened faces approx 16 feet away from the seating. The prior remote was RF (RM 433)

I am looking for a wand style remote that has a touch screen up at the top. It needs to be macro’d to the typical grandma modes.. Touch Buttons to change DVR – DVD - Xbox etc.

Something USB programmable if possible. I have a computer science background but would prefer not to make this a one month coding exercise ( Not another RTI please, this remote taught me that I am not a professional and my equipment changes too often )

I think the distance and the DVDO’s abilities ( Lip sync, Color offsets per device etc )might make this complex.

Budget.. around $300 - $ 500?? I would pay double to futz with it less.

Thanks in advance!

My gear…

Main switch Dvdo iscan Duo video processor (Picture from source to Dvdo to Tv, sound routed through Dvdo to Receiver )

Tv Mitsubishi 73-837
Receiver Pioneer Elite Svx-74ti
DVD Sony blu-ray BDP-S360
DVR Direct TV hr24-200
DVI & HDMI input linked from Laptops

Other..
Xbox
Wii
Ipod controlled through receiver codes
Coming soon.. Slingbox

I would suggest a MX-880 made by URC. It has a color screen but has buttons to the left and right of the ICONS (not touch screen) Unless you budget is $1000+ it is difficult to get a good touch screen.

If you want RF capability, you will need the MRF-350 RF tranceiver.

On a programing note, no really good remote is easy to program by a novice in a few hours. It takes time to learn the programming software. However, I can program a URC remote or an RTI remote in half the time than it takes me to try to make a Harmony work. (I have refused to program Harmony remotes for my customers. By the time I'm done, they could have had a good remote)
