I have bought a projector from ebay that has no remote with it...and you can only use it properly with a remote.

I'm looking to program a remote with the codes - but not sure what to choose -
I got a PDF sent to me from a company that supplys projectors...
I have a list of the codes for each button and I know the codes are transmitted at 38 KHz.

Name U5-132/232

NEC1 Codes are as follows

Power 14 EB
Up 5E A1
Menu 46 B9
RGB 4 FB
Left 5D A2
Enter 17 E8
Right 5C A3
Video 3 FC
Cancel 25 DA
Down 5F A0
Quick 34 CB
Freeze A4 5B
Mute A5 5A
Auto A6 59
Vol+(Password1) A0 5F
Zoom+(Password A2 5D
Vol-(Password3) A1 5E
Zoom- A3 5C
Timer 32 CD

Could someone help to explain how I now programme a remote to use these!?

The NEC1 codes you have make sense-- they are in hex and sum to 0xFF, as expected. However, we also need 1 more piece of information, and that is the device code.

For example LG and Vizio TVs use NEC1 protocol, device 4, and then there is a long list of functions and code like you just posted. Please look for a device code on whatever document you have..

I would say the Device Number is 134.21 if this is a Plus Projector.

There are many remotes you can use...depends how many $ you want to spend?

Cheers

If the device number is 134.21, then you can buy a RCA RCRP05B ($20 at Walgreens or Best Buy) and use setup code TV 1342. Some of the above function codes are already assigned to buttons and are marked with an asterisk below. I've also included some functions (in capital letters) for a U2 model, and these may apply to your projector also. (The U2 mode uses NEC1 24.22, but seems to have some function numbers in common. The RCRP05B can send that 24.21 also, but every function would need to be hand programmed.)

For the functions which aren't already assigned to buttons using TV 1342, assign them using the 994 command, after making sure that you have assigned setup code TV 1342:

1) Press Setup until 2 blinks
2) Enter 994
3) Press setup (2 blinks)
4) Enter an EFC from below table (e.g 00221 for Zoom-)
5) Press the button to assign the function to.
The remote should blink twice.

Thanks for your awesome help!

To buy the actual replacement remote would cost me £140 (I'm in the UK)
I only paid £78 for the projector including shipping - although I don't know what the lamp life is like!

I found a company local to me that make copies of remotes - I assume doing what you list above. So I might go ahead and get them to make it - but I'll give them the info that you gave me and I might get a discount? Worth a try at least!

I found them via the listing below - which is for a remote to work another projector that's almost the same as the one I have (less functions though)

That would give me some pause. If the advertised remote actually works for your model of projector, wouldn't they advertise that? I wonder if the codes/ device numbers listed above are in fact applicable to your projector?

Or perhaps the codes will work, and the supplier just doesn't know about your particular model.

They are advertising that the remote works with my model of projector - after I contacted them - they made one specific to my projector and are now selling it via their website and ebay store. £9.99 inc delivery (£14.99 via ebay) so they gave me a discount for supplying the codes info. I'll receive it in the post tomorrow so will let you know if it works or not!

EDIT:

I actually went and picked it up from their unit on the business park this afternoon... took it home and tried it...

and it works perfectly! I can now keystone, flip the image, change the colour zoom in - all the stuff I was supposed to be able to do apart from laser pointer or mouse functions :)) I was also able to check the lamp life - and it says 442 hours - I think I purchased a bargain projector :)

yay!! So if anyone is looking for a good supplier of remotes at a reasonable price - look no further than
http://genuinecopies.tv/ They sell on ebay but it's cheaper direct from the website - and if you're in Birmingham UK then you can even go an collect one like I did! :))
