HELP!
My parents have a Sony TV with Digital Cable, and a Toshiba DVD and they have 3 remotes. (I can't tell you how many long distance phonecalls we have exchanged to sort out their tech problems!)

Can anyone please help me find a VERY simple universal remote for them?

I'd really appreciate your advice. Oh, they live in Toronto, Canada - in case that info matters.

Thanks,
Gillian

Gillian

VL710 has been discontinued, its been replaced with rm-vl600. My 84 year-old father uses it, great remote for its price.

Just ordered this one for my mother-in-law. We'll see how it works... Small buttons are a problem for her.

The problem with that remote is that it is not learning, or it doesn't appear to be learning. You are trusting that the remote has the codes for your TV in the database. If you want to use it for 3 components, it will not have all of the buttons that you need for every component, so you'll still need the three remotes.

The Sony, on the other hand, learns commands that are not preprogrammed, so that you can truly consolidate the remotes, as well as use macros.
