Using Philips TSU 9800 and RFX9600 Extender controlling a Sim2 Projector. I have a 22' long serial (9 pin) cable connected to the RS232 on the PJ and Serial port 2 on the Extender. Serial port #1 controls an audio processor without any problem (same cable type). Using most current software in both the 9800 and Extender. The PJ has been properly tested for RS232 function before being shipped to me.

We ran an individual "Input" test page that had a button for each Input on the PJ (with the corresponding RS232 Code for that Input as supplied by Sim2). When pressing each test button everything tests fine (i.e. pressing Input 8 results in the PJ selecting Input 8), BUT, as soon as we insert the codes into the config and use them in a Macro, they don't work (i.e. selecting Blu-Ray (assigned to Input 8, results in Input 13 (SDI) by selected by the PJ. None of the inputs (for DirecTv, BR, Kaleidescape) work, they all select an Input different from what is in the Config. Very strange.

We also, tried changing Serial ports, moved to #3, changed Config, and still the same problem, so it isn't the individual serial ports. Also, there was a time, with an earlier Sim2 PJ, that these worked properly. Sim2 assures us they fully tested the RS232 function on this new PJ and it was fine. I believe them, and the individual tests we did verify this, just not sure what to try next.
Thanks for reading and for any comments.

you may need to join pins 7 and 8 together on the projector end .

What type of cable are you Can you try a shorter cable to the projector?

can you use your laptop or pc to talk to the projector using a program like terminal from Bray++

do you have a copy of the serial protocol fro the projector you can send me?
Pronto still one of the best Wi-Fi Remotes,

How was the test done ?? was that done on the Pronto or on a PC using a emulator (hyper terminal, Bills Serial Monitor etc.. etc..)??
Running tests on a PC, can be a problem, because the Cable usually used, is a full configuration compared to the cutdown version you use on site.

As suggested above, check out the pinconfig required for he PJ.

It may be something simple. If there has been some time between you testing on a page, and then using the macro, and people have been 'setting up' the projector, then it is possible that they have turned off the some of the inputs. I know with the SIM2 projectors, that when you disable a input, all the input numbering changes as well. e.g. if you disable input 1, then sending a input1 code gets you input 2, send a input 2 code gets you to input 3, etc.

Try the Ir remote to check.

The easiest test is to take the rs232 cable from the projector and connect it to your computers comm port.
Open a terminal program, hyperterminal is free with XP, and see what commands are actually comming from the pronto. This will help narow down where the problem is.

If the commands are correct then it could be something in the projector setup, as Richard mentioned above.
