Working on a system with Crestron Prodigy and the VSX-21, no matter what I do I can not get the Elite to respond to any commands, but I get feedback if I control the unit manually. I started my program from another program that has a VSX-21 in it that is working perfectly, and I have tested my serial cable and know that my pins are correct and there are no breaks in the wire.

The only thing I can come up with is that it's a bad 232 port on the receiver, but I'm not sure. Any thoughts?

If one program works the receiver and the other doesn't haow could it be the RS-232 port that's the problem?
Same is true if you're getting feedback; if the port was bad there wouldn't be any.
I haven't used a Prodigy system yet but it sounds like something is different in the commands from one program to another.
Any look with Crestron support?

The same program on two different Elites, one receiver works the other doesn't. I tried two different Prodigy processors and neither one controls this unit, but both got feedback from the receiver.

Sorry I got confused with the two programs.
I still don't see how it could give you feedback and not work but I'm no tech so you may be right that it's bad.
Could you try it with Viewport so you can try different settings? Maybe the baud rate is different?
The old SR+ isn't on receivers anymore so that can't be it.

My only thought was if the pin didn't have a good connection in the receiver, but I'm not sure. I have the system running IR right now, but want to correct that soon. I would switch out the receiver but that was our last one and now they are backordered or there's a new model coming (one of the two), but I have none available to switch.

You are inductively reasoning when you should be deductively reasoning. You may be right but for you to be certain, connect the serial cable to your computer, run a terminal emulaton progarm like Cresron's Viewport or Hyperterminal, press a button that will send a sring and see what shows up in the terminal emulation progarm.

There are any number of possible issues in Wizard coding, even the same code, if it was compiled a second time. I've seen Systembuilder programs that failed to connect the serial signal to the com port. So you could open Simpl Windows and check if this is the case.

But ultimately, the program could work and generate the code and the com port could be bad. Using a terminal emulation will allow you to deductively conclude what is happening and determine conclusinvely if you have a bad com port.

Have you tried moving the com port to the other one on the Prodigy?

Maybe I coudl work in tech support.

I'll have to try this next time I'm out there.

I've actually loaded the program that is working into the processor and it did not work on this Elite.

No, but I tried two different PMC2s.

Maybe I coudl work in tech support.

Thanks.

Solved.....after starting over on the Crestron program three times 232 magically started working. Apparently I updated my Crestron software after I had another Elite VSX-21 working and before this program was started which led to some issues. Why it didn't work my second program but did on my third, I have no clue.
