I recently purchased a Pronto 9400 universal remote for my Home Theatre. It struck me it would be a good idea to add lighting control as well.

I have seen the X10 range, but there does not seem to be much available - at least in Australia.

What I want to do it control three existing light fittings. ie the Kitchen (round fluoro and 4 downlights on one circuit), Main lounge light (hanging chandelier, 4 bayonet lights), and background lights (2 wall mounted bayonet).

These are three circuits, controlled by normal 3 gang wall switch near the entry doorway. There is plenty of room here - I can add an extra panel or two here if required.

It would be great to build something in near the 3 wall switches - that saves any additional wiring.

I can get into the roof space, and break into the three circuits as they lead from the wall switches to the light fittings. I can fit a 3 relay pack if necessary. But this seems a bit dramatic.

Does anyone have any suggestions where I can start looking?

I’m not 100% sure but I think x-10 is not approved for Australia.

I think they are working on it (or something similar)

There is at least one shop, and I expect more than one, in England that is very active in selling this type of equipment. I am sorry that I don't recall any names, but you can probably find info with Google. You might even find a source in OZ.

Most of the electrical home automation switches and relays sold in North America are for our 110 volt 60 hz electrical systems and I think most of the rest of the world uses 220 volt 50 hz and not with the two phases (that might be the correct word) that we use.
Cheers, Jim.

X10 is fine and well in Australia. All the major modules are available from envious or many other shops. Imported products from, e.g. China, work fine as well.
